When you do see truly successful, long-term marriages and relationships, how do you deal with it?

Relationships have higher highs and lower lows. They can also end you. There's a trade. You will possibly sacrifice companionship and a lot of possible highlights. You will also avoid a possibly nightmarish living hell. It's a roll of the dice either way. I prefer rolling the dice where I'm not legally tethered to someone who can end me if they flippantly decide my life needs ending.

Pictures like this will be all but a myth 10 years from now.

Fact is, the couple in this picture, come from a very different era. Both of them have traditional views and the conditioning of the last 30 years has largely gone over their heads as they battled raising kids and working.

Their children will not fare so well however.

To reference your actual question though... I deal with it by knowing the truth.

I know that, if the girl is under 40 the chances of her being AWALT are 1000%.

I know that, the couple can post pic after pic, like the one above. Showing how wonderful and happy they are. Pics of their kids riding daddies shoulders with mom smiling candidly. The pics of the happy couple gathered on the sofa watching a game. The posts about how great my husband is for 'X' and 'Y'....

All the while the wife is messaging me on snapchat or kik. All the while she's acting like a secret agent trying to figure out how we can meet up without her kids in tow. You see, he just doesn't get her anymore. Doesn't tingle her in the right way. You see, they got married right out of school and she just really deserves to see what she missed out on without losing her family in the process.

I've heard it all. I've witnessed countless girls I went to school with do mental gymnastics to excuse their slutty ways. The lengths they go to so they can feel no guilt in sleeping with me are tremendous. Then, sure as fire, literal hours after I was banging her... She's posting more happy family pics to FB. ;p

I know the truth because I was single when the time came. The good ol 7 year itch is VERY real and where as before it was frowned upon now it is celebrated (in secrecy of course)

I've banged more married women in the last 3 years than I have single ones. At a certain point it becomes impossible for them to resist the internal urges. They've been conditioned their entire lives to feel like monotony = abuse and as such, their ho hum married lives were lacking.

I've sat there and listened as she described how, in her mind, it was better to just cheat on her husband once every few years (to get it out of her system) so that she could continue to be a good wife and mother. Otherwise the depression and desires would result in divorce...

I've seen the truth and it set me free. Social media is an illusion. A highly polished and edited fabrication of what they imagine their life to be. It should not be taken at face value no matter how genuine and candid the emotion seems. It's all a farce.

My experience: girls are great from 19-23 or thereabouts, but somewhere in 22-26 range a quarter life crisis of finding themselves is due. All the girls I've dated hit a patch at 24 almost like clockwork. But your mileage may vary. My point is, some girls can be decently conservative and well mannered; but around the age of 22-23 (after a taste of bars and going out) they seem to go increasingly feminist and hypergamy kicks in.

Girls start to think they're invincible, until they're not. I dunno. That's my experience though. They just seem to get more and more contaminated with age. Propaganda takes time to ferment, you know?

Everyone who has already been in a serious and long term relationship knows that, what it looks like from the outside, and how it really is, are two very different things. No one like to show the world what's wrong...

Facebook is a perfect example of that, all you see on it are always the good parts (the perfect life), but you don't see the arguments, the cheating, the dishes flying and smashing against the wall, etc.

For every bad example, you'll find a good example and vice versa. Being in a relationship is a risk. If you aren't up for it, don't do it. If you think it might be worth the risk, do it. Not that complex.

Because they are so young, I'm guessing this is a newish relationship. Also, the girl is so young that she likely isn't a bitter shrew yet.

Later in life, the type of marriage I'd like to be in is so rare, that I don't expend much mental energy on them at all.

That lady is ugly as shit, if that guy lost a few pounds and hit the gym, he could be with a better women. It doesn't surprise me she would stay with him, she can't do better, he doesn't realize he can get better, men are loyal, that's why he stays. I have seen countless couples like that and it's always the same case, shit ugly women with a guy that can do better. I feel pity for the guy.

Too much rage from the youngins in this thread.

I personally face this everyday - my parents. It's not perfect, both have their own male and female natures. Both have their arguments and their fun times. Both have different interests, different ways of thinking, even different sleeping patterns.

But what is always present is their religious conviction and their commitment to the preservation of their marriage. I guess that's what's lacking in today's cultural values.

I look at them with sadness for myself sometimes knowing that I will never have that. On the other hand I am extremely and genuinely happy for the both of them. I also know enough about women today to go and try my luck.

The only long term marriages I have ever seen where deeply religious. Not only did their chosen faith require them to stay together, but the overwhelming majority of their social structure held the same religious believes and the social pressure to stay together was fierce.

I work with a lot of mormons and they all don't understand why I wouldn't want to get married. I just want to reply to them: "the church issued you a wife and requires she can't leave you, it's not like that in the real world" but I would immediate be reprimanded for insensitive remarks to their religion so I keep my mouth shut.
