"Don't get married."

It was to the point. I asked him "Uncle Ronnie, you've been with Linda since your late 20's. You're in your 60's and have just gotten married to her about 3 years ago. Was it worth it?"

He took only a second before responding with the above statement, adding "Unless you're planning on having kids, don't get married. What is marriage? A union that gives you a tax break? Linda and I aren't different, we just have a piece of paper that says we are together. Who gives a shit? It's not worth it. She wanted to buy me a ring that was $5,000. I'd rather use that for a TV, for God's sake."

Don't get married gentleman. Much easier to leave your partner if need be.
