The other day while I was doing some shopping for groceries, I noticed an old man and her daughter at the entrance to the shop. The old man was in his late 70's judging by his looks and leaning on some ski poles. It's a thing older men do here often; When their legs start to give in, they use ski poles for balance. The daughter wouldn't even let the guy into the shop. She was hounding and nagging him like crazy. My heart sunk. Poor guy. Can't even do some shopping in his old age. The daughter wont let him.

My father is experiencing this right now. The man was a beta provider all his life and now his health is deteriorating. - His wife wont even let him do some shopping. He has to stay indoors all the time.

The same evening I was at the library. I noticed a young buy there with his older sister. The sister would nag and bark orders at the boy constantly. At the library no less! I thought to myself :” This is the Finnish matriarchy: You get bossed by women here from cradle to the grave. The lucky ones are those men who die early. The smart ones go MGTOW.”

So who is going to take care of you when you are old? I will tell you who is not going to take care of you: A Woman.

No one. I am 42 and I am old. I cant find my glasses when they are on my face. I can barely get an erection. It hurts when I have a bowel movement. I go to work. I come home. I do it again.

1) It doesn't cost a quarter of a million dollars to have a child.

2) Most people are not disciplined enough to save the money they would have spent. People use this argument on rent vs buy and say they could save the extra money they would have spent on a mortgage vs the rent. Nope. It doesn't happen.

I am not advocating having kids. But these are two false premises.

Having a child as a means of future security is an insane investment. Let’s break it down:

Regardless of the actual cost of raising your child or children, the cost will be a non-zero figure. It will cost something. All of that money could be going to bolster your retirement account, but instead you’re putting it into your biological “security net”.

Accidents happen. Your future security depends on a living thing. Kids die. Adults die. They might suffer a fate that makes them physically or mentally dependent on YOU. That’s a bust. Let’s say they survive to adulthood and they don’t completely resent you (also a possibility); other factors in life may limit how much they really give back in terms of taking care of you in old age. Their career, their spouse (oh joy), and their own offspring may all be limiting factors in your care. And don’t rule out their own apathy.

The overall guarantee is weak. You could raise a drug addict. You could raise a complete scumbag. You might be dad of the century and get a wet sandwich in return. So you’ve made a decades long investment that is going to end up giving you little to no return.

The flip side:

Your money can grow much more securely than a child. You can plan and manage it in very structured ways to produce predictable results. You can KNOW how much support you’ll have access to based on what you have saved. Is it 100% safe? No. But I wager that if you ran it in front a few actuaries, the risks are negligible compared to a “bio-bank”.

Technology is on our side. Next year your Tesla will be able to drive you anywhere, completely autonomously. So imagine how we’ll be getting around, to the store, or to the clinic in 20 years. Robotics will revolutionize in-home care over the coming decades. And if/when you can’t live in your home anymore, being able to afford a decent assisted living apartment is way a better investment than hopping your progeny pulls through.

Cash is king. We can plan for the end of our lives much more effectively with money than we can with emotional, selfish beings.

In the end, if you desire the “experience” of raising a child, then this isn’t going to cut it. But if having a child is your idea of “future-proofing” the golden years, money is far more secure and way less fickle.

As a man I've learned to expect noone gives a shit if they die. Why would they when they don't even give a shit if I live? So suddenly they're gonna take care of me when I spent my whole life being shamed, alienated, and hassled?

The government isn't going to take care of me. I pay like 20% taxes most of which goes to social security and the social might not even be there in ten years. Where did the money go than?

If I have kids they MIGHT take care of me. But than again they might have their own problems... Or be daughters.

No woman is going to fucking take care of me. They go on suicide watch just me working part time or taking a bus to work.

The church looks the other way to homelessness all the time. They could have hobos working inside the church. Tithe counting, janitorial, cooking...instead they say "I'll pray for you". Unless it's a slut than they'll make big commercials to save them from being deflowered.

Nice! Parents often blackmail their children into taking care of them, though. They won't leave them an inheritance otherwise or something (they may even choose to spend whatever they have left before checking out). All this so they can die knowing their DNA won't be following them to their graves. I guess it's important to some people.
