i have an idea for an invention that might just make me millions, but i don't know where to start and am scared of it getting stolen cuz i know how cutthroat business is with people wanting a piece of the piece whether or not they deserve it or did anything to earn it. where do i start? it's just an idea in my head right now. i'm particularly interested in first figuring out how to protect my idea from theft so that it isn't just stolen by some bigwig because i'm a broke guy who's starting from scratch.

"I want the easy ride" is essentially what you are saying, that may not be how you feel, but that's how it sounds, when you start attacking success. It secretes the air with the smell of pussy.

A lot of problems did stem from OP's original post, but the other half was contributed by deep seeded insecurity, laziness, or jealousies, expressing that deep down, you secretly wish that it was you who had an easy path. If you have to ask the value you can get from someone who is in a place in life that most of us, yes, most, want to be in, then there isn't much helping you.

Even an "easy path" still needs a man who is dedicated to walk through, how many rich kids are losers who will never achieve a higher calling than swiping their parent’s credit card. I don't have anything I want to ask personally, but don't mistake this for anything other than an opportunity to learn because if you get blinded by the "silver spoon", you miss out on a great deal of GOOD information because how many of these "silver spooners" will take the time to help you, of all people, you!, so ask, you have nothing to lose.
