I guess this is the part of western culture I've been having trouble understanding. Why does society, especially media, look down nerds? Nerds invest their time in subjects they're interested in and become knowledgeable at said subjects, which I find really respectable and fascinating. I guess the word equivalent to nerds is smart? I am not smart so I really respect smart people. Somehow women and some men laugh at nerds. Really strange.
