I wanted to take a short break and clarify a few things, since we've got a lot of new members. These thoughts may be a bit disjointed, but I wanted to put it in a visible place.

Quality of Posts

Since our subscribership has increased as much as it has, there's been a latent fear that our quality will drop.

This was something the mod team and I were aware may happen, and we've taken steps to subvert it. For instance, we've categorized each post (yes, we spend a lot of time doing that when you don't), so you can easily click those little links at the top and get straight to the content you want to see. That means there's no reason to complain if there's a certain level of posts that you don't like. Want more red pill theory discussion? Literally just have to click "red pill theory." It's that simple.

We've moved ASKTRP to it's own sub to remove newbie questions. If you're new, go there.

My assessment

I regularly read through the threads on here, and much to the opposite of what some might complain about, the comments here are largely on-topic and insightful. This is a well spoken group, for the most part. Sure there are trolls here and there, but it's one report click away from being taken care of. I highly enjoy the discourse here, as much as day one, if not moreso.

The only thing that actually lowers the quality of posts is people complaining about low quality of posts. I have always treated it as concern trolling, and will continue to do so.

There are people who claim that we've changed direction, or the red pill doesn't mean what it used to. Those people have literally no idea what they're talking about - and clearly are unaware of what TRP started as. They are adding noise. Don't like something? Add more of the content you want to see. It's that simple. Bitching about it is annoying.

Field Reports

It has come to my attention that field reports are becoming a little overwhelming. It's good to report back about your experiences, that's a core part of our sub. What I'm going to request is that you refrain from posting field reports during the week, and we'll have a super-mega-field report thread each monday. If you don't see a super-mega-field report post and it's monday, feel free to start it yourself.

Videos

Our general rule we've been using is no video links without a self-post with your analysis. We try to remove them when it happens, but sometimes we don't get there until it's 30 comments in. At that point, the discussion is already there, and so we don't remove it.

I have decided we're going to get more strict on this rule. If a moderator sees a direct video link, it will be deleted, period. With or without comments. If you want to post a video, make a self-post and add it to your analysis.

Self-Post Links

I've seen people adding self-posts with nothing in them but a single link. Don't do this. They will be removed on-sight.

No Participation

Please remember that no participation is for your own protection. I will ban anybody caught following an NP link and participating, to discourage this. We have a large number of people getting shadow-banned, you don't want to be one of them. Don't do it.

Doxxing

Recently we've had a few events with various users attempting or allegedly doxxing eachother or attemping to call out real life rapists (tm). It's drama I don't care for. I forward anything I see to the admin, delete that shit, and move on with my day. Your privacy is your job. If you don't have a throwaway for TRP, you should. A lot of people think simply being here is a sign you will go out and rape people. It's friggin ridiculous, but some people used to lynch black people too, so at this point just assume people will be idiots and think it's their job to deliver justice. Use a throwaway, do not post personally identifying information, and for christ's sake, when you get shadowbanned after being doxxed, it's for your own stupid protection, not a punishment. Take it in stride, make a new account, never speak of the event again, or they will link your new account to your old one. You know who you are, I've deleted all your posts. Take a hint.

A note on Endorsed Contributors

Everybody has a different opinion, not everybody is the same. When the moderators see somebody who has solid red pill understanding, we give them the flair. This wasn't their choice, and they're not expected to toe any line. We judge them based on their contributions up until that point. Sometimes they'll say something somewhat ridiculous- but as an exception, not a rule. For the most part, they're solid thinkers and we want to be able to distinguish good solid theory from the noise.

That's the reason they exist. Just wanted you all to know. It's one more method to help keep the signal high, and the noise low.

Redesign

You all probably already noticed by now, but we've done a redesign of all the red pill related subs to give them some consistency, and make them a little cleaner. I like them. They look like candy.

That is all

Thanks, crowd. Keep up the awesome discussion.

What if we're already part of the community that's been linked to? Quite often I post on /r/askmen in threads that have been linked from here and I am subscribed to both. More often than not I've not followed the NP link to linked sub, but still commented on a thread that's been linked here (then may subsequently comment on TRP thread too).

I vouch for Monday to be field-report-day. Monday is the most miserable day of the workweek and nothing could get me through it better than reading fresh field reports all day.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

It also follows the weekend when a ton of action happens.

You can save time by mechanizing a lot of this with automoderator:

  • Field Reports: can be solved in a few steps

  • Video links: see here etc.

  • Removing self posts with only links: another regex matching.

  • Doxxing: you can probably use automoderator to automatically delete comments that contain something that looks like a phone number or a valid address, etc. too.

  • Enforcing the use of AskTRP: setting automod to delete or report titles with a question mark in them might work as a start.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 3 points4 points  (1 child) | Copy

Hey thanks!

[–]Endorsed ContributorRedBigMan1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

I noticed people were getting annoyed with automoderator but I just realized something that could help.

Why not have it grab a copy of the original post if it's linking to another subreddit and post the text into the thread in case it gets deleted since I see quite a few members doing this already.

[–]md6196 points7 points  (2 children) | Copy

I like the returning to a more strict stance on video posts, but I'm not sure I'm a fan of just putting all the FR in one big post. Details might hazy if you have to wait a week to post what happened and the strength of a field report is in those details. Another thing, if they're all put in one post it's almost inevitable there's going to be a shit load of them and a lot of the good ones are going to be skimmed over and missed while the shorter, more accessible ones will probably be up-voted. That's why I think doing the weekly Watercooler thread was a good compromise.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

You can contribute to the weekly FR post at any time.

[–]md6191 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Okay that's good but it only fixes the first potential problem.

[–]tenpointfive11 points12 points  (0 children) | Copy

Another suggestion: a weekly and/or stickied thread where people who

  • may not consider themselves part of the community (but not exclusively outsiders), and

  • may not even be passingly familiar with it (e.g. linked from somewhere else),

can

  • ask questions

  • criticize RedPill theories,

  • explain their non-RedPill theories and get feedback, and

  • attempt to concern troll

and do so without the expectation that they have thought any of it through.

Sort of like a "noobs"/"outsiders" thread.

In the thread (and only in this thread), have expectations of

  • being as overly-gentle to comments as time and will permits

  • responding to everyone, at least with a link.

This can be used as a way to

  • build up a much-needed FAQ,

  • contain those kinds of comments/posts, and

  • encourage others to engage with us on our own turf, rather than using these stupid parody subs etc., (This would happen because posting in the thread would lessen the feeling that they have oh no "legitimized" the RedPill community by posting in our sub).

Overtime, the answers to all of the questions would be in the FAQ, so that we can just link to it and the therad stops being such a time sink.

Edit: This doesn't mean that we can't start an FAQ on the wiki right now, open to editing by members with mod approval.

Keep up the awesome work! Thanks for giving us an update.

[–]soapjackal3 points4 points  (4 children) | Copy

AskTRP is being brigaded fairly frequently and the troll count is higher than the consistent posters. This is troubling.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Where's the submit button on AskTRP? Is it hidden on purpose?

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children) | Copy

So how are you going to fix it?

[–]soapjackal1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

I counter troll strawmen and I try to send newbs PMs. I personally think that TRP is ineffective unless you are able to examine your character and use the advice so I usually have more tendencies to defend virtuous masculinity over alpha masculinity.

[–]fuk_offe0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Only Endorsed users are able to respond post in threads? Limits trolls to new topics that can be easily /deleted without ruining the true newbies.

The nice part is, a lot of the regular contributors on TRP also visit and comment in AskRP, so new users miss nothing by moving their enquiries there.

[–]drewbaccha0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Thanks for the heads up, I recently swallowed the pill and this guideline will be very helpful!

[–]betterbulldozer0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Not sure where everyone is seeing all these field reports. If anything I feel like the blue pill example posts dominate the front page. I'd rather have the weekly super thread for the blue pill examples instead, since they get repetitive and don't offer anything constructive.

It's an internet forum, son.

Field Reports

How about a separate sub dedicated to just Field reports?

Use a throwaway, do not post personally identifying information, and for christ's sake, when you get shadowbanned after being doxxed, it's for your own stupid protection, not a punishment.

I disagree with this, and to bastardize some feminist logic, that sort of sounds like victim blaming. :)

You shouldn't have to have alt accounts in order to protect yourself because you post in certain subs. The Admins should create an environment that is safe for everyone but they don't seem to do that. Instead they seem to protect a certain group of people while discreetly punishing others. You'll notice that rules aren't applied fairly across the board here at Reddit.

You shouldn't have to have physical proof of consent in order to protect yourself because you fuck certain women. The Lawmakers should create an environment that is safe for everyone but they don't seem to do that. Instead they seem to protect women as a group, while discreetly punishing men who stray from feminist dogma. You'll notice that rules aren't applied fairly across the board here in reality.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children) | Copy

Personal responsibility is your own.

[–]redpilldude-1 points0 points  (6 children) | Copy

You shouldn't have to have alt accounts in order to protect yourself because you post in certain subs.

If you post in /r/TheRedPill, some other subreddits will pre-emptively ban you just because you are a Red Piller. I've been pre-emptively banned from /r/AskWomen and /r/Relationships, even though I never post in either of those subreddits.

I suggest that you use a throwaway account just for posting in /r/TheRedPill.

[permanently deleted]

[–]redpilldude0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

You would receive a message saying that you've been banned.

[–]puck_mar1n0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

I suggest that you use a throwaway account just for posting in /r/TheRedPill[4] .

And to me this suggests shame for posting in TRP? If I truly support the sub and believe in it's philosophies, why would I want to hide behind a throwaway when posting here?

Is the ability to post in /r/askWomen, or /r/Relationships that important?

I feel like if you're not proudly willing to say "I support TRP" then you probably don't belong here.

[–]redpilldude2 points3 points  (0 children) | Copy

Is the ability to post in /r/askWomen, or /r/Relationships that important?

No, not really. I never post there. But, there are other subreddits that I do enjoy posting in (such as /r/AskScience, /r/Science, /r/Technology, etc.), and I wouldn't want to be banned from those subreddits.

I feel like if you're not proudly willing to say "I support TRP" then you probably don't belong here.

Well, you're certainly allowed to have your own opinion, but you need to keep in mind that people from subreddits like /r/TheBluePill are actively going through Red Pillers' post history to try to identify us so that they can doxx us. A couple weeks ago, /r/TheBluePill accused a guy from Europe of being a rapist. They figured out what country he lived in and contacted the police in that country. He wasn't actually a rapist; /r/TheBluePill was just trying to fuck with him and make his life a living hell. That's why the mods of /r/TheRedPill recommend that you use a throwaway account. Be smart; protect your identity.

[–]16 TRP VanguardTRPsubmitter0 points1 point  (1 child) | Copy

Just choose whichever you like. Personally, my ID started out as an alt, but I quickly realized that I don't really want anything else out of Reddit so it's now my main.

Honestly, those subs like /r/askwomen and /r/relationships have no value to me at all. They're all rage-inducing. Why would you go somewhere where literally everyone has blinders on & you know you are going to facepalm the entire time? My advice would be to narrow your subscribed subs to those that improve your life somehow...

Check out some of my metareddits: Fitness, lifehacks/improvement, movies, nutrition, and of course, Red Pill

Having all these show up in your front page is pretty refreshing.

Well, I never post in those subreddits. But, there are other subreddits that I do enjoy post in (mostly tech and science related subreddits). I wouldn't want to be banned from those subreddits.

Thanks for that list. I'll check those out.

There was a post recently, I won't say which one, that could easily be used to figure out where that person lived. I didn't bother looking through his comment history, but a few more stuff on his school or work and all of a sudden he is getting people trying to get him fired or expelled. (hypothetically)

I pmed this guy and told him to be more careful about it in the future. As a general rule, I think being a good Samaritan is a good idea. However, it might be a good idea to delete such posts and make them re-submit without identifying info. What do you think?

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child) | Copy

Yes, please report anything you see, we will deal with them.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children) | Copy

Alright, I sent that post I mentioned to the message moderators thing.

[–]tenpointfive-1 points0 points  (1 child) | Copy

A suggestion: make the weekly posts stickied for that week.

[–]Modredpillschool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children) | Copy

Great idea!
