I haven't heard of automation and machine learning mentioned in the mgtow and red pill context. Here are some thoughts.

The fruits of machine learning are finally reaching human level and super human level in areas they are being applied to.

This is, alas, nowhere near being true, especially the "super human" bit.

Mostly what has been happening is simply "brute force" via a massive increase in the amounts/speeds of data storage & retrieval as well as computational power. Computers are in fact still "dumb" (i.e. entirely "un-aware") machines that execute algorithms within certain pre-specified boundaries.

It's hard to predict what the future will hold without huge error margins, but some scientists in the field are saying that a large fraction of service jobs, something like 50% of them, could be automated in the next five years.

That's really pretty arguably dubious. A large amount of so called "service" jobs (i.e. "servant" jobs) are already basically unnecessary -- and could readily be eliminated via process changes that require zero "intelligence", and are maintained chiefly because people LIKE the idea of interacting with another human (regardless of the error margins).

For example, just about everything involving "waitstaff" positions, from waiters in restaurants (about 2.3 million people), to bartenders (another +500 thousand people), to coffee-house baristas (probably another million or more -- and by the way "barista" is just the Italian word for "bartender" repurposed/redefined in English to seem "special" as a marketing meme) -- are all essentially fad-fashion and/or "tradition" based affectations -- and nearly all of them could have been (most even existed) eliminated long before the advent of digital computers and many attempts were in fact made to do so, some which even achieved a certain marginal success (to wit: the "Automat").

Service jobs is a broad category so I wasn't able to find any numbers,

Plenty of "numbers" available: per example "Food Preparation & Service", as well as "Personal Care and Service Occupations", etc.

And yes the term "service job" is extremely vague.

but I'm pretty sure women are disproportionately employed in those fields. This means in the next five to ten years the demographic most affected by such automation will be women.

Arguably women are chiefly disproportionately employed in various "bureaucratic" positions -- i.e. regulatory compliance (everything from EEOC laws, to tax accounting, etc) as well as things like compulsory schooling, etc.

Most of those things are rather arbitrary creations, are to a certain extent already "automated" (the chief impediment to automation being the subjectivity/ambiguity and the ever-changing nature of the regulations)

Not to mention that -- due to the demographic changes (i.e. large numbers of newly "old" people) -- many "service" professions (especially the female dominated things like hospital nursing, post-surgery "therapy" and "counseling", as well as "senior care" and nursing home things like bedpan changing, sponge-baths, and so on... not to mention funeral service industry) will be literally "boom-boom-booming" in the coming decades.

So in short... what you are imagining (and what various "memes" are being currently promoted*) are rather delusional, and NOT likely to be happening.

*Per example the reddit hive-mind's obsession with "everything will be automated so we need /r/basicincome" -- is in fact just a pile of (neo-luddite) propaganda -- the understanding of the history of human use of machinery (& so called "automation") is being entirely warped, and fallaciously rewritten to serve specific political-agenda-driven purposes.

The first wave of automation was in manufacturing and it hit men hard. The second wave we're in now and is devastating retail (Amazon etc). The third wave is going to be in data entry as more and more processes automate. Women may be impacted but no more than they were when they closed the steno pool. People will do other things.

Technology is advancing at an astonishing rate but don't worry my Chicken Littles, the sky is not falling just yet.

I do Machine Learning/AI work.

It's really hard to tell how society will change in response to these new technologies. It's difficult also to tell how far we can advance within our lifetimes.

What's for sure is that AI will have some effect. Whether it's better for men or better for women is really speculation right now. Whether it's better for society in the long run or in the short run is also important to ask.

What I personally think is that there are some jobs that men do that are too difficult to automate. There are also some jobs that women do that are also difficult to automate (i.e. nursing, teaching maybe?). But in general, men tend to hold more of the jobs that are difficult to automate. In general, both sexes will probably be hit very hard.

Not to be all conspiracy theorist, but this situation will lead to an even greater drop in reproduction rates while increasing the wealth of the most wealthy to even new heights. It's the best possible scenario for the wealthy to have a low population, while having a sub-class of technocrats who create new technology. That's why we may be seeing such a push to get girls into technology. 1. because it decreases the cost of an engineer and 2. Because women wont have many other choices if they want to be employed.

This is probably one of the most pressing upcoming issues for Western society. And the outcome will sure be interesting.

Its not that hard to envison what might happen. I see one of these four as most likely:

1 Living wage. 2 Magic money for everyone. 3 Massive underclass with crime, violence, and all distopian realities. 4 Massive loss of life.

Great advances in AI, automation, and data analysis system will also affect men. The loss of jobs in construction, transportation, engineering, will also affect men greatly. This topic is much more complex than your post seems to point out. In fact, I think that women will and have always got by using their inherent worth, even during the lowest employment times. It's men who suffer the most during these times. And it will be men who will suffer when we will have robotic security guards, 3d-printed homes, and self-driving rigs. In a gynocentric world, unemployment affects men much more than women.

The only thing is that men don't need as much as women to get by. And that is a benefit for men.
