This is my personal outlook on MGTOW and how it informs my goals. My own way might be nothing like your own, but I hope that others might find it useful, and I encourage other men to share their goals, and exemplify the virtues of MGTOW. I would like to inspire others if possible.
Having eschewed marriage (and most relationships with females), I have decided what way is my own and I intend to relay that information here.
But first, there are a few things I need to note:
I've seen a number of MGTOWs falter, grow depressed, and fail to thrive. Waking up to the dominant narrative, seeing the social fictions which put men through the meat grinder, and realizing that women are not men with tits, ass, and pussy - is a ground shattering realization. I look at the world with new eyes, and I see the indoctrination of the world who would rather stay asleep... and it's sometimes scary. I understand the existential crisis of turning from caring only about finding a woman to settle down with, being a good husband, and making babies (or being a PUA); and turning to a life of self-directed virtue. I use the word "virtue" very purposefully.
Virtue: Behavior showing high moral standards: Middle English: from Old French vertu, from Latin virtus ‘valor, merit, moral perfection,’ from vir ‘man.’
Changes in moral philosophy can sometimes create existential crises.
For instance, when I die "legacy" will mean something different to me than it would to a blue pill man with kids. That caused an existential crisis in me, for instance.
So, hopefully, by sharing my outlook (which I've been told is optimistic), I can be a resource for other men who are looking for a "what now?" who might feel lost.
...
"We wanted peace; they wanted a piece of us."
Who am I?
I'm a 27 year old man who started out as an "AFC" (average frustrated chump, for men without a PUA background). I grew up depressed and suicidal from a shockingly early age. My mother was abusive (I know not all women are monsters like her, and MGTOW isn't about hate for me) and ended up divorcing my father. She took out her equity during the housing bubble, and made my dad very poor to cover the divorce settlement. A few years later, the housing bubble burst, along with a blood vessel in my father's brain, which ended up taking his life.
I felt a lack of love in my early life and I fantasized about true love from a young age. I grew up a hopeless romantic. We all know the story - women don't like servile men sexually. I did sports, I lifted weights, I did poetry, I was outgoing, I was a gentleman, and I was (and am) moderately attractive and tall. Not being able to get a woman was confounding and frustrating. I became more depressed. I tried harder (lifting weights, being more romantic, working on myself, being more outgoing, etc.). I failed harder.
In college I discovered game. I ate it up. I got laid, and finally started getting dates (despite a large romantic gesture, I was stood up at prom, only to find out she went with someone else after giving me a lie about her grandma... I couldn't even get a single date in high school).
The more I learned - the more I realized that women were deeply and profoundly disappointing. I tried a two year relationship with a good girl. I tried bad girls. I tested out many different kinds of people. I even had to check if I was gay or bi (and it would have made my life easier if I had been, but, sadly, I'm only physically attracted to the female form).
I was at a loss.
Then I realized that I had been taught lies growing up. Men and women aren't equal - that's one of the biggest pieces of bullshit that I should have caught as a child - a single glance at a man and a woman should settle that debate. What's more - the brain architectures of men and women are different; women don't think like men, and every male writer for a television show who depicts a female love interest is spewing bullshit.
Lies... Lies were everywhere.
Game laid the foundation. Biochemistry was also useful. When I saw my first Barbarossa video, I was ready. I devoured the material. I found Stardusk and Vention and girlwriteswhat. I told others what I learned. I read books like Fathers Under Fire, and Sperm Wars, and The Predatory Female.
I lost one friendship to a man who I had known for years, shortly after explaining how feminism is historical revisionism and altogether harmful, while it postures for the moral high ground. He was in a relationship. I noticed his girlfriend belittling him and I told her that she should be more supportive... the next night the man was crying, telling me he needed help. I told him that I was trying, but soon after I was not welcome to their apartment anymore. Things fell apart and I haven't seen or heard from him in about 15 months. I was too harsh, maybe. I should have been more diplomatic, but I suspect he is in an emotionally abusive relationship and in something akin to Stockholm Syndrome, but I respect his wishes.
I've been learning and growing in many ways over the last two to three years, since hearing the counterarguments to feminist indoctrination.
In that time, I considered getting off the grid and opting out of the meat grinder. I've been learning economics and doing biochemist stuff (mostly independent contracting, and eking out a living). I also discovered anarcho-capitalism through freedomain radio. Though I've moved beyond objectivist philosophy, I found Ayn Rand to be enlightening... I was an altruist, and I hated life, yet I lived it for others. Altruism almost killed me, considering my suicidal past.
I've rejected the dominant narrative (such as selfless sacrifice, and chivalry, and feminism), and I swear to you I laugh more deeply, smile more often, and love my life. I'm very glad that I've turned inward for my happiness, and that others cannot phase my honest, grounded in reality, self esteem.
MGTOW has taught me that a man can have value - and there's nothing to feel guilty about for being a good man.
(On a side note, studying moral philosophy, and having Stefan Molyneux introduce me to a few core concepts - has helped me to define what, in fact, is "good")
Virtue had been an ill-defined concept, until I looked into it and forged my own definition on the shoulders of giants.
I don't settle for women now that I've found myself. To borrow from Barbarossa; I don't seek to commune with the vast female emptiness. I find women to be tedious, generally speaking. I still have a select few female friends, but they are rare individuals.
I should add that I'm not celibate, and I think I might have asymptomatic herpes-2 (no sores), but I've only gotten the standard panel of STD screens (which doesn't test for HSV-2, but I'll test myself soon) and I'm otherwise clean. I've done a 180 from my hormonal youth and become libertine, the possible herpes was to be expected on some level (although I hope that I dodged that bullet). Sex can be fun occasionally, but it's vastly overrated.
However, even though I'm not celibate, I find I don't have the unquenchable thirst for vagina now that I realize that women are not what I was told they would be. However a theoretical model is only as good as it's predictive power, and I've found women are predictable... and disappointing when viewed from an informed MGTOW lens.
I don't hate women - I just don't like them. Given the choice, I tend to avoid them. The romance is dead, and the feminine mystique is solved.
So... that's where I'm at...
Now what?
Well, in a word; justice.
The just and virtuous thing to do to a corrupt system is to short the system. Economically, I'm getting out - but that's not to say I'm planning on living in the woods. While a masculine life in nature appeals to me, I have other goals in mind. The best thing to do is to grow rich, but not chase thin strips of green cotton. Work is a means to an end - the end goal is to pursue biotechnology as far as it can take me.
The paraphrase Aaron Clarey; money serves two purposes - to enrich or extend life.
My goal is to extend my life as long as possible; eat healthy, exercise, develop biotechnology.
Live long and prosper, as they say.
Gresham's Law says that bad money drives out the good. I think I'm good money. Let me repeat that; I am good money.
At the end of the day, the gold in your pocket is only as valuable as the people willing to trade it with you (and how much they value things such as their labor). Feminists and Marxists don't understand basic economic theory.
Economic theory is predicated on the scarcity principle; the idea that one must economize.
Your life is a scarce commodity - your time is finite. To economize you must find ways of enriching and extending your life. Efficiency extends your life - every hour saved is an hour added to your life; do the dishes before they pile up and the total time spent doing them is reduced. A life spent doing dishes is a wasted life. Find ways of making things efficient which you do not enjoy doing.
I'll work and save, but not in dollars - in tools and useful things, instead. I'll learn more robotics and programming so that I may build genechips for genetic counseling (furthering my side business and my ultimate goals of living longer and healthier). I'll diversify internationally, I'll have shell companies and contracts in other countries (doing legitimate business).
I will not seek fame from the blue-pill masses - instead, I'll work in the shadows, growing rich off of international business.
I'll be nimble, like only a MGTOW can be...
I'll chase my boyhood dream of being a scientist and inventor. Science is a better mistress than any female; science never sleeps, science can be done anywhere, and science has an open mind.
It's simple; gather resources, love life (which I will further enrich and extend), do science.
MGTOW has freed me from constant disappointment, financial ruin, and a depressed life lived for others (read: women). If I do end up making technologies which help humans live longer, then it will, counter-intuitively, be because I love what I do and am free to do it - selfishly. The shaming language just rolls right off of me, and I'll be laughing all the way to the bank. Every time an "alpha" calls me a pussy, or a bitch calls me a fag; I'll see it for what it really is... weakness... Their weakness. Either weak-mindedness, or dependency issues. Their insecurities tickle and remind me of who I was and outgrew.
I'm genuinely pleased with myself, and am excited to see how far my life can take me. Maybe I'll be on Mars asking "what's next?" or maybe I'll only have a comfortable upper middle class lifestyle, or perhaps I'll fall back on living in the woods and life will be a masculine adventure - where society has no place for me, and I have no place for it (even as a tool to gather resources for myself). Who knows? But I'm excited to find out, and I've been growing stronger, smarter and happier over the past two to three years. MGTOW is a valuable part of my life. I'm pleased to be disabused of delusion, and happy to live in the real world (even if it's filled with blue-pill-ers, whom I can use to further my goals, at the very least - somebody needs genetic counseling - and it tends to be pregnant "couples"; I'll take their money - why not? I can use it to buy a boat).
My parting thought is this; if you find the red pill is too depressing, then know that anger is a more useful emotion, furthermore, with newly unclouded eyes - you can see what others cannot; take advantage of it! The perks of going your own way are limited only by your cleverness. It makes me want to quote the code of the sith (even though I reject violence):
Peace is a lie, there is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me.
Knowledge is forceful, powerful; embrace it. Come to the MGTOW side of the force. The villains of the corrupt (and intellectually, and morally bankrupt) people - are actually the good guys. Emphasis on "guys". Be a virtuous man - be a MGTOW.
