She's half right. Humans are not monogamous by nature, but she's mistaken genders. The natural order of things is for the top men to have a harem of women. The women compete among each other to join the best harem they can and the men compete with each other until they have enough power, status, and wealth to create a harem of their own

Sperm-competition have played a part in human evolution just as it plays a part in sexual selection among chimps. But so have sexual exclusivity and paternal certainty, which have been required at least to some extend, for it be evolutionary advantageous for men to get in long-term relationships and spend time on child-rearing. Paternal care/investment without at least a pretext of sexual monogamy is extremely rare in other species (only 3 such species exist according to this psychologytoday article).

If she was logically consistent, she would also admit that romance, courtship, commitment, marriage, and men helping raise offspring was unnatural. Then we would have a society like bonobos or chimps, with males having no responsibility and either getting quickies by different females several times a day (like the bonobos) or having to fight to see who gets the poon (like the common chimpanzee).

According to biased and inconsistent 'Sex at Dawn', early humans shared sex like they shared food, yet feminists (of whom many support the ideas in 'Sex at Dawn') rant on about how awful "male sexual entitlement" is. What they really want, is to have sex with several high-testosterone criminals (testosterone is an immunosuppressant and thus a sign of a good genes), and have good fathers but bad sperm-competitor men at home to offer emotional support and help for them and their children (this increases the chance of the women's offspring surviving to the next generation). Natural and sexual selection have "designed" women to want this, just as it have designed men to want lots of partner variety along with sexual exclusivity (paternal certainty). Genes and evolution doesn't care about hypocrisy, or whether or not you screw over other individuals (as long as there is a net-benefit to your genes).

This makes me laugh. Since when do women need science to get their own way? They've done very well on shaming tactics, appeals to emotion and spurious philosophy thus far, why are they breaking out the (pseudo) scientific arguments now?
