So I saw this video called "man rape" by dave chapelle posted here recently. It was definitely very funny and had a good chuckle. It was composed and delivered excellently by a great comedian. But I also know that rape is no laughing matter whether it happens to a man or a woman. Why then is it funny when a man gets raped? How come we can laugh at a joke about the rape of a man but not a woman?

One part of the video that really hit home was when chapelle said "there aint no hotline for men, if we get raped we just gotta suck it up, take that shit to the grave". This is very true and it's funny because it's true. I can see how he brings this up quite creatively and makes some hard hitting truths about being a man in modern life. But why is men being raped itself funny?

I'm really not sure exactly. I know the generic answer, that men are viewed as disposable utilities. There must be a reason why, because something in me made me laugh at it... I just don't know what.
