Funny how whenever you feel like going back to the plantation you 1) read stuff like this, and 2) read the comments from other women justifying her behavior. NAWALT might be true, but the fact is that so many women are like this that the effort required to find women who aren't is just not worth it.

The tradition of men paying for the entire date came about due to the realities of life in the past. At one time, women could not own property and could not work outside of the home. Those days are long gone.

Today, there is no reason why women cannot pay their own part of the date, as they are free to own property and earn an income through working. When on a date, a man should pay his share and a woman should pay her share. For example, when going to a restaurant, a man should pay for his own meal and a woman should pay for hers. This is better than splitting the bill because one party may order more expensive food and drink than the other.

This outdated situation exists because men allow it to occur. If enough men insisted on equality, women would eventually follow along, even if they go kicking and screaming.

The act of having people of only one gender paying for a date supports the false notion that one person is better than the other. It basically indicates that a man must pay a woman just to do something that is mutually beneficial for both of them.

Fortunately, since I am GMOW, I do not have to deal with this nonsense.
