I view women like I view any other big ticket purchase. Is she worth the money? Will she be reliable when I need her? Will this acquisition improve my life in the long run? How much of an inconvenience will it be to get rid of her if it doesn't work out? Can I even afford this? Do I want to spend more money on a flashier looking woman that has more risk of being stolen or do I want to settle for a bigger high mileage woman that has children that I'll have to maintain as well? Should I go with a cheaper foreign woman? I'll just have to tell the salesman no thanks and that I've been doing just fine going without.

My reading of the deed of trust is very different to that of the author.

I see that court seized the property and gave it to a trustee and will release it back to Alexander once he pays the divorce settlement. The divorce settlement is about $2.7 million dollars. He will pay it in 72 monthly payments of about $44,000 each, which is about $3.2 million due to interest. Once the payment has been made the deed will be returned to Alexander. Essentially the deed to the house is used as a collateral for the loan.

The loan costs Alexander about 100k annually, which is about 3.7% interest. Likely his money is tied up in financial instruments which need to mature or he loses even more money by withdrawing them now.

Note that the house isn't particularly big, less than 1600 sq ft.

The only part that doesn't make sense is why the house is up for sale. It's possible that Alexander was given permission to sell it while the deed is in the hands of a trustee.

If you feel you must get married, be sure to pay a lawyer well for a rock-solid prenup. Once the first draft is prepared, have another lawyer take a look at it to be sure it's water-tight.
