"Intro"

Having recently caught myself slowly getting worse at non-verbal communication, I have began paying more attention to the way I act.

What I found is that despite having a good posture, I would keep looking down, particularly in the gym, in between sets. I've noticed that I'm not the only one there, a fair amount of pretty buff guys tend to have the same habits, so perhaps this may come to help out some more experienced people.

The tip

I have found that if I push myself to not look in the lower half of my vision range (As in not having the iris cross below this imaginary line http://i.imgur.com/goTMPpW.jpg), I would come to more naturally acquire a comfortable posture.

Having consciously worked on this technique mostly in the gym, I have found that it was easier to observe what was going on around me, and looking around at other people would seem much more natural, rather than when I would alternate between looking down at the weights, or just looking at my iPod.

I would heavily suggest if you have the opportunity, try it out; it becomes natural fairly quick.

I'm not certain how well this would work in other scenarios outside of the gym, but as far as I can speculate, the differences in setting would not have a large impact.
