There are parallels here to Christianity, with the major tenet of that religion being "forgiveness of sins". Many of them feel free to do whatever they want in private, because they can always be forgiven later. While I'm not a Christian anymore, I'm not anti-christian. This is just something I saw pretty frequently from the 20 or so years while I was a member.
With social media, most of them think that what matters is the image they present to the world and not what they are really like.

Like I've said before it's like seeing pornstar women with cross necklaces on. Modern Christianity became a "have it your way" fast food religion in the US because it was too hard for people to abstain from sinning.
While not sin I remember one time going to church as a kid and there was a family that always sat in the front row. So during mass the whole thing is essentially "be excellent to each other". An hour after mass we happen to see this same family at a Subway we were at where the father is yelling, swearing, and berating the cashier because they would accept some coupon from another Subway. I'm thinking to myself, "Didn't this guy pay attention to the church mass an hour ago that was preaching about forgiveness? Wtf?" Part of me realized right then that there are people that go to church and they either don't listen, don't care, or can't process the actual message being given.

Christianity really is a beautiful idealogy. It's centers of power were and are abused, but that's every center of power, hence why America was founded on separation of Church and State. I'm agnostic, but from what I've read, Christianity is the most complete and virtuous religion. I don't consider Buddhism, Toaism, etc. as a religion, but rather more a philosphy like Stoicism. Stoicism also has spiritual elements to it as well as evidenced by Epictetus and Aurelius saying you must presume there is a God and act according to your perception of it.

Modern society differs only slightly. It's basically this, plus a bunch of lies to hide the fact that it is this.
People being lied to and not aware are what we call "beta", but I really hate that word. It implies that they did something wrong, or somehow they are at fault. And they are not. They are just being good people trying to be nice, and how is that bad or weak or low or deserving or anything derogatory? Yet, in the same time, they enable this behavior of women. It's a really interesting problem to think about abstractly.
The whole thing boils down to the fact that women are probably naturally (what we would consider) insane, and the society is encouraging that insanity. Who would think this is a good idea?
And yet it happened many times (in different forms) in history.
We are really flawed species. And to think that we can really have it all through certain values like cooperation, honor, respect, treating others the way you want to be treated. Very simple things, it's not particle physics. We can't even do that, cause we are like .. retarded? I guess.
