To be honest, from experience, it's easier to carry a sleeping child while standing than sat: the legs of the kid dangle while if you're sat they have nowhere to go.

Plenty of time if you sit, the child will wake and complain because what comforts them is the full body contact with the dad, which isn't happening if he sits. I wouldn't surprised if woman 3 is the mother...
