I posted a few months ago about my husband being out of work and lacking the drive to search for jobs / do anything much of substance.

Since then it has improved a bit - he started sending out his resume more, he's had a couple of telephone interviews, but still no joy.

Then his mother died. She had been seriously ill for a very long time so it wasn't a shock, but it's still obviously distressing to the whole family.

He has had his sad moments but most of his day is spent playing video games and has generally been fine.

I am trying to be supportive but my argument here is that if he's fine enough to spend hours of the day staring at either the TV or his phone, my reasoning is that he's fine enough to spend 1hr a day doing something productive. ANYTHING. Whether it's learning online, bookmarking jobs to look at later on or going to the gym.

I have tried to come at this from a constructive, caring point of view. But I'm coming to realise that even though he says "Yeah that's good advice" or otherwise agrees, he never seems to implement any of my suggestions that are only meant to help him.

That's when I start to get frustrated and it moves from me trying to help to me nagging or being an angsty bitch. I know it. I feel it coming on.

Any advice for this despairing wife?
