Hey everyone! I just discovered this sub and lemme say y'all are the best. I've been dating around for a few years but this sub has given me new perspective on my own self-worth and how I should approach dating.
I saw someone post their weekly roundup and I had an action-packed week so I thought I'd share. Right now I have about 10 guys from various apps who I've exchanged numbers with and am texting. Typically I like to keep 5-10 texting me but when I'm busy it'll peter off. For the sake of time I'll just mention the ones I've met/am about to meet in person.
(names changed)
Adam 24, works in marketing, met for drinks at a bar downtown last weekend. He's a little short (I'm 5'9) but overall decent looking, well dressed, and groomed. He was a little nervous at first but seemed like a nice, funny, socially competent guy, and he bought all the drinks :)). We ended up having a lot in common, really smooth convo. Complimented me but wasn't too over the top- I hate when guys are too complimentary, for some reason it feels disingenuous to me- overall a good time and we stayed until 12:30. We ended up kissing some but nothing too heavy. We're meeting up again tomorrow.
Dan, 23, in med school and actually graduated from the college I go to. Cute, Tall, and I appreciate an ambitious guy. Met for coffee on Saturday, had a decent conversation but no romantic/sexual spark whatsoever. We don't have a huge amount in common. We've texted a bit but I don't see us meeting up again. Potential Friend.
Jack, 23, in i-banking, met for pastries and coffee on Sun. I was 30 minutes late bc I completely forgot and we hadn't been texting all weekend. He was a little weird, sheltered, but nice enough and overall ok. He walked me to work at the end and he gave me a little bag of seashells he picked off the beach which was kind of cute but also weird. Also, it was pouring rain so I offered to give him my umbrella for his walk home and he refused to take it because it was pink and "too flamboyant". Yeah. He'd rather get soaked than be seen with a pink umbrella. Bye Jack, ye of insecure masculinity.
John, 22, does something with compsci that I don't fully get. Met up for dinner on Tuesday. This dude has been hitting my line nonstop which is such a turnoff to me. Like I don't want to feel guilty for not texting you 24/7. But he was so pushy and honestly a little desperate that I was like fine, I'll meet up w you. Date was ok, he's awkward and a little boring and clearly feels very sorry for himself bc girls have "hurt him" (read: girls he met on tinder stopped messaging him back). He paid, so yay, free food!!! He walked me back to my building and kissed me and I pulled away when he tried to give me the tounge bc 1. were on my college campus and i'm not into pda in front of my peers and 2. im just not into this dude. He has been texting me non stop, acting like we in a freaking relationship and supposedly "really likes me" even tho we met once and this dude doesnt know me like that. I know I should be honest and tell him it's not going anywhere but I dont want to deal with the eyeore energy.
Aaron, 28, software developer, meeting up tomorrow for lunch. Seems super funny and like we have a lot in common, but we will see how he is in person- from his pics he is short and overweight, which is not a dealbreaker but I usually prefer the guy to be taller. He also has slightly whiny/woe is me energy which is not appealing in a 28 y/o man.
Those are the guys I have actually met in person. There are a few other promising ones, but we shall see. No immediate hits, but what can u do. This is long af and prob boring, I'm sorry!
Also, why do guys call tinder convos piddling out, "Ghosting". What, you want a formal break up from someone u met online and have never seen in person? I feel like if you dont talk for very long and don't connect, ending the convo is not the same as straight up ghosting someone. but idk. Wd y'all think?
