My friend Cynthia Reflection Statement

I can't believe I was so naive as to buy into his lies. Thanks to him he convinced me that he loved me – my partner was probably one of the best liars I'd ever met.

He swept me off my feet - quite an accomplishment since I'm so cautious by nature. Imagine my surprise when a mutual friend broke the news to me that not only was he a world class liar, he was already MARRIED WITH SMALL CHILDREN. How dare he put me in such a compromising position? How dare he disrespect his wife like this and make me feel so used, guilty, ashamed and worthless in the process? And when I confronted him, he gave me such a lame excuse; that he didn't tell me because he loved me so much and knew I'd leave him if I found out the truth.

He was a dirtbag. I was so angry at myself for falling for his lies. And then, the worst part, he begged me not to tell his wife because it would destroy his family. Well guess what? I did tell her. She had a right to know what an asshole she lived with. In fact, we had a long conversation and even compared notes. She's a lovely woman and certainly is wasted on the likes of him. I felt so horrible being the unwitting party to the treachery. I apologized profusely and we both cried. I was hurt to the core but I was more hurt for her.

She was exceptionally gracious about it all and was grateful that I filled her in on what he was really all about. We ‘dated’ for 9 months, his wife was pregnant for 8 of those months. There are not words enough to describe how low he is. She and I deserved far better than him.

Once she divorces him, she is going to clean him out. He’d better be prepared to live in that car he was so damn fond of. Asshole. Oh, and as for the roses he sent, what a jerk. I redirected them to his office along with a note outlining all his misdeeds. Hopefully, the word got around. Hopefully he doesn’t get to pretend he’s Mr. Nice Guy any more. Who cheats on their pregnant wife? Karma will get him?, useless piece of garbage!
