If you treat yourself like a high value woman, you will also expect others to treat you that way. Raising your own standards will inadvertently raise the standards for any men who interact with you.

I was a mess before I learned about many of the strategies we discuss here. But, once I learned about what I wanted, how to get it, and how I wanted my life to be, I suddenly started developing solid self care routines. I’m not talking about the bubble baths, takeout dinner and a sappy movie self care (not that I’m opposed to that occasionally, sometimes you just need Netflix and garbage food), but rather keeping your place functional and inspirational, taking care of your body by exercising and eating a fucking vegetable every now and then, reading books, and generally treating your body and home like the Queen Shit it is.

Here’s what I do every week: - Saturday cleaning. The whole flat gets a once over. Fresh sheets, fresh towels, clean bathrooms, dishes completely done, all laundry finished, surfaces wiped and dusted, floors vacuumed, swept and mopped. Glass surfaces are all cleaned. My car is cleaned and vacuumed. I’ve carried this habit into my marriage and now my husband partakes in the Saturday “ritual” with me to undo the week’s chaos.

  • Sunday shopping and meal planning. Another habit I took to my marriage. I go to the grocery store and recycle all my cans from the week, write out a loose idea for all meals for the week, then it gets prepped. After marriage, hubby comes with me, plans a few of the meals, and participates in the prep on Sunday evenings (he chops everything, I bag and cook stuff beforehand usually).

  • Work out. Move your body. Go for walks. Go for runs. Lift weights. It’s healthy and will keep you happy and functional. I personally go 6x a week.

  • Eat good stuff. Don’t starve yourself, but don’t overfeed yourself either. I always eat what I want: ive learned to make my own favorite dishes and understand what I’m putting in my body. I’ve also balanced that with eating ice cream and sorbetto every week too. Keeping nourished is key to treating yourself like a queen.

  • Read. Read things that challenge you, that upset you, and read things that inspire you.

  • Have weekly things that are just for YOU. For me, this is my 3x weekly runs with my friend, and weekly hockey games. These things are non negotiable times and can’t be moved unless for extenuating circumstances (like holidays or travel).

There’s plenty of other things but essentially treat yourself the way a high value woman should be treated. You’ll notice your standards rising for men once your levels of self care rise too.
