I am of the opinion that this chick has you already classified as friend zone material.

If you don't want to be there, you're going to have to really push it. Like the guys say, use the word 'date.'

If she tries to act like she's mystified or bothered by all this, you've gotta be able to frame it in such a way where she's being silly. You're a man, she's a woman, what's the problem?

Realize she's going to probably be constantly grabbing at the wheel and steering back toward the friendzone. "Are some of our other friends going to be there? Can I bring my roommate? Do you mind if I catch up with another friend afterward?, etc."

If she's really obnoxious about it, you'll have to either cut her loose, or settle for being her good little purse carrier and emotional tampon.

Realize, if you're cool about cutting her loose, she may very well reassess you, and come crawling back. But you have to be cool about it. No butthurt. Something to the effect of: 'You're cool, I like you, but we aren't going to be hanging out. See you around.'

If you guys are already friends I'd just invite them over to hangout. Maybe before it was inappropriate but now you're both single. Why go out for coffee when you already have rapport?
