My ex wife did the same thing she had cancer early in her 20's had no sex drive and said she would be fine with me having a girlfriend for sex stuff only, I said ok , I didn't want that I just wanted some sex even just a little, she I said the girlfriend was a better situation. I said ok and started dating someone with in a couple weeks once she realized I was able to find a date she shut down the girlfriend situation. We are divorced now and I can't find a date to save my life 🤣🤣

He is stupid. She has been cheating for sometime thats why she left so instantly.... to meet that guy after he agreed to open the marriage. He could definitely keep most of his stuff and only pay a small amount to his wife if he divorced her because of the decisions she made

Open marriages are too difficult most of the time because

--Wife usually gets tons of sex while husband doesn't

--When wife suggests it, she's already got the guy picked out and is usually already sleeping with him before she asks

--if Husband starts getting some, Wife can't handle it

--it's very, very hard to close up the marriage again once it's been opened.

Here's what should have been done:

"About a year and a half ago, my wife came to me asking for an open marriage. I told her no and immediately filed for divorce."

The only good response to "I want an open marriage" is "I want a divorce".

This is an interesting read, but this gem, a psychological phenomenon caught my attention:

while he's in an open marriage, his wife is not aware, and it was too hard to get away.

Open marriage that his wife is not aware of?

"It's not theft, it's a donation to a less fortunate person that you were not aware of."

"It's not robbery at gunpoint, it's an encounter with a persuasive person who convinced you to contribute to their noble cause."

This is so warped that I'm not exactly even sure why the protagonist of this story even goes so far to hamster away the cheating man's behavior.

Does he have a guilty conscience now that he violated the sanctity of marriage (as in union of spouses, not his marriage as "state of the relationship" specifically, since both parties to consented)?

Or is this a form of Stockholm Syndrome where one develops positive feelings for the man his wife is cheating on him with?

There's probably a somewhat vast research topic that this type of behavior represents, but alas my degree was in CS, not Psychology.

Back to the main topic:

If a woman threatens you with on ore more of the following:

1)Divorce

2)Cheating

3)Cops

In her mind she had already checked out of the marriage. That monkey branch swinging was weeks if not months in the making and it's only news to you, but the plan is already in the final stages and by this point she had probably already cheated on you.

Furthermore, any relationship is built on trust, and her showing that she's not even willing to consider the fair terms of waiving spousal support demonstrates clearly that there is no trust in this relationship and it is already doomed on multiple levels, not just the sexual one.

In this man's shoes, the best you can hope for is find yourself the best divorce lawyer you can afford and prepare for the inevitable while minimizing your losses.
