Not sure if its MGTOW in particular, but there is definitely an increase in self interest among young men, They are turned off from private college due to massive debt, are not huge fans of spending soul sucking hours and hours in a corporate office, and they are saving money and minimizing by not buying family sized homes and cars. Consequently, they are just not attracting women who are still married to the nuclear family model from decades earlier. Women are behind in their expectations and men are more willing to push off marriage/sex if it means their quality of life can better. The main negative of this men is many are unhappy because they compare their life results to that of their parents and friends and its generally depresses them. MGTOW will save lives if it can find away of making men feel good about their decisions instead of bad about putting women off.

It's easily explained. Online dating started in 2003 with PlentyofFish, followed by 2012 with Tinder, which was a lot more widespread, then others followed. Both men and women signed up to the apps when they first launched and both had decent success (PoF back in the early 2000's). Once OLD really exploded with Tinder, and everyone started using it, all of a sudden the females are getting swamped with attention from guys, and only pick the best looking specimens. Any guy below that level was invisible.

Regular ways to meet girls for the average guy essentially dissappeared. Why would she want you to approach her when she had 5 hotter guys lined up for sex via the OLD app. If regular guys persisted this approach they were called creeps, sexual assault, harrasers, and eventually 'incels'.

So as you can see, most average guys have had all routes to sex just cut off. So a lot of them they turn into a simp, which lets them talk to girls, but no sex. For some guys, this is enough. For a lot of others, it's a waste of time, so they focus on gaming, hobbies, and just don't worry about sex.

If I was a young man starting out in life today and saw the dumpster fire that is the dating scene, I'd also probably not bother. What benefits, besides sex, does that bring? It's extremely expensive, frustrating, sketchy as f**k, and long term you "might" end up with a bitch who'll end up robbing you of 50%+ of your wealth in divorce court. No thx.

As someone who was at the 'right' age for this in 2002, I can confirm that it likely is because women are much less "feminine" and look a lot...what's the word? Less hygienic?

May just be me, but my friends agree as well. A sleeve of tattoos, and acting very slutty, at 18-24, is not exactly inviting.

As everyone else already pointed out, online dating increased the potential suitors of the average women from just the people in her immediate physical surrounds, the literally the entire globe.

Local guys, instead of competing with the 80/20 in their neighbourhood, are competing with the 80/20 of the entire planet.

Sadly, most of those men who are losing out (compared to the past) aren't initially going MGTOW. Plenty of them will waste years, if not decades, of their lives, trying to live out some Disney fairy tale life. Many of them will fall into the self-perptuating downward spiral of simpery.

The year is 2020.

You can't try and play by the rules of the romantic idealised vision of the traditional 1950s that exists only in your imagination.

Most guys are Blue Pillers. What the current situation is creating are incels. They are mad because they can't get laid. Also, what the current situation has created are men who date women beneath them. To often I see good looking guys hold hands with butt ugly women.

There are so many substitutes for women in a man life.

And they are trying to increase their profit by removing what women offer (sex, children, obedience etc and to all) while pump up the price (overpriced stones, etc) and risks.

It will be long and hard way to collapse the civilization to remove all the substitutes for men, and finally bankrupt it, to force women put what should be on the table back onto it.

Don't read too much into it: it's a survey. The numbers of sexual activity among men are therefore likely to be highly inflated, because of the stigma on being unpopular with women ("incel" etc.), so survey participants should be expected lie, to appear less bad.

It's better to use your own eyes when looking at the world and extrapolate from that. There's nothing like verifying theories yourself. How often do you see a young woman being openly affectionate with an average guy in your region in public (so not on TV or in fiction)? Probably never; same here, so that type of match may be a very rare outcome indeed.

I see guys carrying bags for unappreciative women and do other one-sided stuff like that, but I only see young women kissing men who are way above the 5'9 average in height (5'11 and above) and that's just one of many possible criteria, in a mate.

No problem with that, because preferences are personal, but it does mean that more extreme figures like the 80/20 rule or even 90/10 should be seriously considered.

This does not create MGTOW however.

Expect a lot of incels, frustrated and sexless married men and clueless TFLers out there.

Some of these guys may eventually become MGTOW, but that cannot occur without a break from the herd and an embracement of individualism, first.

This is the only chance of a catalyst. I’m pessimistic when it comes to making any meaningful strides to get more men interested in this type of philosophy, but that doesn’t mean I’m disinterested in the project.

You can be certain that almost all of the men in the 18-24 category want sex. The reason a third of them are not getting laid is because women are not choosing them.

With all the options available to women these days, they only want the top tier men, and won't even bother with below average men. Even average men are just getting scraps.

A lot of guys are MGTOW without knowing MGTOW as a defined thing but have all the same mindset. Swearing off women, not wanting to be married, not wanting kids, self improvement. This was me long before I discovered MGTOW.
