Ignore them if you can, or cut them out of your life if you can't. And if you can't do that, use the opportunity to exercise patience, self restraint, and acceptance. The serenity prayer can help.

What do you do if someone in your family is deceitful or manipulative, or otherwise a source of negativity that you don't want to deal with? Same thing.

We all learn eventually that you can't change people. You can be there to support and guide them if they want to change themselves, but this is such a rare occurrence that it's hardly worth considering. :)

Living with my 28yr old sister who's an obese Karen. I'm moving into my own apartment in two weeks and it is taking all of my effort to not call her out on bullshit and just put my head down.

I've made my disdain for her and the way she acts apparent a few times over the last two months, and it is honestly not worth the headache. You won't win, it doesn't matter how right you are or how wrong she is, you will not win. Feelings trump logic.

Bitch complains about being fat and constantly talks about her diet. Her and her husband spend a combined total of $1k/month for some personal trainer to Skype them and tell them what exercises to do for 30min a day 3x a week. I've seen these "workouts", they are shelling out big bucks to have someone tell them to do bicep curls and burpees. It is pathetic.

Not to mention the fact that they eat takeout twice a day and stock the fridge and pantry with nothing but junk food. Over these last 2 months I've bulked up 30lbs, and I'm now one week into my cut and already down 10lbs. Gaining/Losing weight is pretty damn simple, cals in cals out. Eat less than you expend. But nah, if I bring that up she mentions her hypoactive thyroid (which is from being overweight to begin with, and the hypoactive thyroid only accounts for a ~5% slow down in your metabolism. Aka if you eat 2k cals a day, you only need to consume 100 less cals to lose weight. Eat one less cookie a day you fat bitch). And when I explain that to her she blames genetics, meanwhile my parents both used to have great bodies, and my other sister and I both have a lot of muscle, if anything our family has good genetics for being healthy and building muscle.

This turned out way longer than I intended, trust me I understand your frustration. If you live with this Karen it's best you bite your tongue to keep the peace. If not, ignore. Once I'm moved out I don't have any intention of seeing my sister even though I'll only be a 15min drive away, I don't need that kind of bullshit in my life.
