I coach a kids' robotics team. Everyone is all crazy about getting girls into STEM. My team is about 1/3 girls. At the competition last year, the sponsoring university held a "Women in Engineering" panel discussion. One of the girls (15-16ish) on my team decided to go.

When it was over, I asked her how it went. "Bunch of stupid feminist nonsense" was her reply.

I’m a girl and I can’t stand third wave feminism. I’m going into a stem field and there is a hiring bias towards girls in stem, so I don’t wanna hear some stupid feminist complaining about the lack of women in stem. If you want more girls in stem you should have majored in engineering instead of gender studies.

You are not alone. I'm for gender equality and I think that earlier forms of the feminist movement were extremely important but now it's become so radical that all rationality has been lost. Modern feminism seems to be less about achieving equality for BOTH genders and more about being offended (by everything) and vilifying men. I prefer Cassie Jaye and Christina Hoff Sommers' brand of feminism.
