I knew a girl who I lived with, we were like brother and sister and had a strong bond, it was an unusual scenario, everyone believed we were fucking or in a relationship, they couldn't wrap their minds around us just being roommates and just being bros.

Then I went on vacation with some friends and she seemed upset that I was gone, that I left her alone since we were homies, and she had wished we had gone on vacation together. I ended up talking to her on the phone every night I was gone for a solid 30 mins plus.

When I came home things were different between us, and then we told each other that we had fallen for one another. Despite this, things never blossomed, probably because I was too much of a pussy to make a move, even though she expressed that she didn't want that while we lived together. More time passed, we weren't living together anymore, but she continued to have a different reason for why she didn't want to date me yet.

Naturally I became suspicious, eventually she kinda hinted at the fact that she wasn't over her ex, constantly talking about how she had to block him but somehow he always came up again, and she would try to avoid the conversation about us and where we stand, like it'd turn into a fight every time I tried to get her to tell me what she was feeling, because I didn't want to be strung along. She ultimately said I should just move on because she won't be ready for a long time. Which is where my original comment came from. She definitely had a personality that was reflective of someone who would gladly take advantage of male friends who she never had the intention of being with. You know the type "help my car broke down" and then that guy friend who knows cars shows up etc.

At the end of the day, I feel like she is still AWALT as fuck, but at least more intelligent and funny and overall cool/not basic compared to the rest, which is probably why even I couldn't resist falling for her despite my knowledge of MGTOW at the time. We occasionally text each other now, but I'm committed to not seeing her in person again. It just ruins my mental health to reconnect with her.
