Focus on yourself, level up. First love is pretty much an over-exaggerated thing. There are better loves than first love. I saw my „first love” recently, after ten years. I thought I’m gonna puke. Bald, unfit in old rusty car with two kids and constantly nagging wife. And he was such a hottie in high school, I thought I’d cry my eyes out when he rejected me „because he doesn’t like huge cows like me”.

Give it time.

2 years is average, 5 years is not unusual for a very long term relationship. And there are some cases where the desire to commit never comes back. All normal under the sun.

Time truly is the best healer for heartbreak. Give it some time and I promise you the rose colored glasses will fall off and you’ll see that this person wasn’t really all that you made them out to be.

I thought I would never be able to date again after my first love but i was totally wrong. I completely avoided dating men for 8 months post our breakup and allowed myself to completely feel through the pain and go through the stages of grief. The key to getting over someone is to accept the pain and let the healing happen over time. When you brush the pain aside and act like it didn’t happen or refuse to fully acknowledge it, it’ll never go away entirely. So feel through it as much as possible now. And I guarantee, like me, you’ll be better off in due time. Focus on you and friends/family if you can, during this time. You’ll get there even if it seems impossible now. But trust me.
