Disagree. While one should have pride and strive for excellence, having too big an ego while being successful may create more hidden enemies awaiting your demise. People made money off of Jordan so people celebrated him. However, what Jordan has done though great cannot compare to the likes of Julius Caesar, Genesis Khan or Alexander the great. Look what happened. Caesar was killed by his own men, Khan was assaulted by a female consort, and died of complications, Alexander was possibly poisoned to death by his own.

So much so for ego and success.

I think the big ego is a result not a means to an end.

You work hard, be selfish with your time, money and emotion, then you have the leverage to have "big ego". But at the point of view from the person who seemingly have "big ego", they just don't care because that is their default way of operating and they have the audacity to because it was backed by the things they have done and achieved.

One can have an inflated ego and it can be easily detected if they are trying to emphasize and defend themselves when you doubt them; they are consciously holding that ego because it will fail when they are not.

Side topic: Likely so for woman. When a woman is consciously posting stuff on Instagram, she is actually feeding her ego.

REVELATION I was thinking about what makes people like Michael Jordan great, obviously he has a massive ego, but that's not what makes him great. What makes him the GOAT is the combination of huge ego PLUS insane work ethic. Ego without work ethic means you will be insufferable to be around, and generally not very successful, whereas impeccable work ethic without ego means you will prolly be mediocre but never achieve greatness, as the competitiveness that comes with a big ego it is what drives people to become great at things. If you have small ego and bad work ethic, well than you will be entirely irrelevant and unsuccessful in whatever you do. The combo of big ego and big work ethic is what leads to maximize success. Lmk your thoughts

Having no ego and work ethic is how you maximize success.

Having a large ego is an unwillingness to learn from others. Sure, you can learn alot of things by doing it yourself, but thats playing against the odds.

Ego is insecurity, regardless of how powerful your motivations may feel, if they are powered by Ego, you won't be happy.

You need a lot of ego to go through the pain and depression of the 99% and even more ego to start the journey into the unknown 1%.

What he had was confidence and a desire to be the best in what he did.

Ego = If he failed, he would feel bad about it and get back down to reality and probably think that he wasn't that good after all.

Confidence = If he failed he would be cool about it and next game he would drop 40 or 50 points and win the game.

What he had was no ego bro, he had real fucking confidence in himself and maybe arrogance; It was with a good foundation though, that man worked harder than anybody.
