Hello everyone! Firstly, I would like to say that I have finally found this community and am so happy I have! The group of ladies here seem so welcoming and like-minded about traditional values. It is so hard to actually connect with women these days without being scorned for not having "feminist" values!

I would like to ask for opinions and a(hopefully) solution to a problem I am having. I apologize in advance for my posts length:) My husband(29) and I(23) have been married for nearly a year, courted for 1^1/2 to 2 before that and he was my very first sexual partner. (I've been traditional/conservative all my life, as is he) I grew up knowing the value of work, and I have had (paid) jobs since 16. I am not afraid to work hard and pay bills. But my passion has always been my home. Cleaning/organizing, cooking, baking, decorating, volunteering and crafts have always made me happy but coming from a single parent household, I never thought of having a chance to do this full time.

I feel now called home from my job (a well paying one with great benefits) to live a more simple life, and to start a family. I want to build my 'nest' in our new home. We have no debts, other than our home and are great savers. We both love being frugal and living below our means. My husband works for his father, in a family owned business, and in 2-4 years, he will buy his fathers practice from him. Essentially, he will be making big time money just starting out. Right now though, we have a modest income, comfortable savings and our wills and trusts in order.

He and I have both brought up me staying home at different times lately.(Hes really the one who brought it up first) I kind of shrugged and said he would have the final say, and to think about it but I was so excited as well! Since then, this is all I have thought about and wished for. I didn't want to jump on the first chance without him weighing all of the pros and cons. Him being the financial/tax/retirement wizard that he is, drew up a plan and said it would be best to wait 5-8 years for my 401k and not financial reasons (as hes getting a raise later this year that would make up for lost income on my part) I was downtrodden at hearing that and tried not to show it too much. I hadn't minded waiting patiently, but 5-8 years? I love him and respect his decisions, however I don't believe I would be happy in this situation. We've had a discussion since then, where I have outlined all of the pros and cons we would face if I were to stay home, and he seemed to like the idea. I haven't brought it up since,so I don't come across whiny and give him some time to reconsider.

I was blessed with amazing in-laws and his mother (also a SAHW/SAHM) approved of my feelings so there isn't a problem as far MIL's are concerned.

Do you ladies think I am being selfish or inconsiderate for not liking (and secretly not supporting) my husbands plans? Am I asking too much of him? The last thing I want to do is cause him stress or worry. He is so good to me and I know he is only looking at the future, in case something were to happen to him.

Do you think there is anything I can do to convince him otherwise? Thank you all! (And please be gentle)

UPDATE

So I ended up sitting down with him to have an open conversation and I believe it went really well. Though I'm not able stay home sooner than I'd hoped, he did say that 5-8 years was a guess and that it would more than likely look like 2 years instead.( Or until his dad retires) And the people who commented, you were right, he had no idea how happy I would be if I could stay home. He really is the best man I could've asked for! <3

I have to really remind myself, that men (especially Alphas) don't think and reason like women. Just because I say something in passing, doesn't mean he will connect it to something I say a week later, like women do. I guess I could blame it on the brainwashing I received in public school and whatnot.

So, in the end, this turned out better than I had thought it would and I've also learned of something that I could improve on (trying to understand men and women think totally opposite) and to express myself more clearly, to not be afraid of talking to him when sharing how I feel.

Thanks ya'll!
