I'm sorry for your difficulties, but I'm really glad you posted /u/seekingtruth10 because your post is a prime example why it's so important not to divulge secrets, vent, or ever gossip and talk negatively about a significant other.

You are in a really tough spot, and unfortunately it's a prison of your own making. So, what do you do? If you tell him everything that was said, it will hurt his relationship with his sister. If you don't own up to what you did at least then you're lying by omission while allowing him to think he's protected when he's not.

The way I see it, your allegiance needs to be to your man first. Tell him that you messed up, and that you confided in his sister, and you're glad they are getting along but that you know it was wrong for you to not say anything about it sooner. Tell him that you will tell him everything you and she said, if he's interested and wants to hear it.

At that point, it's up to him to decide if he wants all the gruesome details. It's probably only a matter of time before he starts fighting with his sister again anyway...but they're family. Being related to someone usually means people will put up with far more abuse and mistreatment than they should.

Moving forward, never say a bad word about him, and don't let other people say negative things about him or your relationship.

Point number one: let her tell him how she feels about him when she feels like it, that is not your responsibility. or concern, especially with their turbulent relationship

Number two: harsh, but true: you did this to him first. Suck it up and at least you know how easily the sister is flipped to one of two sides.

Number three: you can vaguely tell him about how you went to her with the problems you were having with him in the past, and that maybe she's upset with you, now that she's hearing his side of all of the stories. But only if he brings it up/directly asks you about it. It's not worth putting more energy in. Just don't involve his family anymore, in fact, stay out of their way as much as possible.
