Men don’t care about women aging, it’s women who care.

Men treat older women like anyone else and THAT’S why women get those creams and makeup. Women don’t want to be treated like anyone else. They want to be treated like they were when they were younger when men went out their way to do anything for them.

Ugh this reminds me of the brunch I begged my Nex to take me on to celebrate the huge promotion I got. It was the first nice spring day of 2019, and my first day off in WEEKS. I was 25 and kicking ASS professionally in a male dominated industry. I decided to go fresh faced, hair natural in waves with a little braid pinned to the side of my head to keep my bangs off my forehead. I thought I looked really cute and casual. I had been working on my skin and hair and tbh I was TIRED and just wanted to get a bagel and celebrate my first leadership role with the man I loved more than he ever dreamed of loving me. The first things he said when we arrived, after having been quiet all morning, were to point out a stray eyebrow hair that was “distracting” to him. I said that was weird. He went on to talk about how his mother would never dare to leave the house looking so “unkempt” and that he was kind of embarrassed to be seen with me in public without my hair curled or straightened. I excused myself to the bathroom to cry. He couldn’t just be happy for me. He didn’t love me. He saw me as a reflection of himself like a true narc and couldn’t handle that someone else might judge me (&him?) negatively for not having mascara on at 9am on Saturday. It took me another year to leave him but I look back on that morning as the first time I decided it wasn’t me that was the problem in the marriage, it was the marriage partner who cared more about what outsiders may think more than what their spouse thinks.
