I think on the whole that is correct, about struggle, but it doesn’t explain the clown world, the bizarre way our culture is driving us to hate each other. Like woman in the 40, 50s had relatively busy lives, but boring a lot of men had hard lives but boring, they weren’t life or death struggles and people were getting along. Now with social media the worlds views are just going to shit! I 100% blame social media for the rapid decline, we see too much information, and people are jealous and too dumb to see that they are watching other people’s highlight reel.
The question is, even if just a trivial thought experiment, is something controlling social media maliciously? Or just how we aren’t ready for it yet.

I agree...there's this widespread apathy amongst the adult populace who all think they're highly educated but they're all astonishingly ignorant.
Something's gone horribly wrong in the way we educate children over the last 70 years or so, leading to a society of adults who are both highly technologically proficient but remarkably ignorant of history, culture and morality.
The net result is an almost paradoxical decline in the quality of adult human beings and thought in an era of unfettered technological advancement...and that creates this dystopian technocracy in which we find ourselves.

I always looked at it from an evolutionary perspective... we didn’t evolve in civilized society... we evolved hunting and gathering for 100’s of thousands of years... pretty easy to imagine that lethargy, depression, weakness and fatigue would be death sentences in that environment Whenever we were moving it was directly related to survival, food, water, shelter, heat, predators etc... doesn’t make sense to feel like shit trying to find food or fight off a predator... we needed to feel good to keep us motivated, our subconscious only cares about short term survival... of it determines we need something, it’ll motivate the body to go find it Now think of the average household... electric heat, just turn a knob... fridge full of food, roof over our heads, locks on the doors, extremely small chance of having to fight off a predator We have everything we need for immediate short term survival, it’s basically guaranteed we’re going to make it to tomorrow..... so in turn our subconscious sees no reason to risk our safety by taking any unnecessary chances, cue feelings of lethargy, being fatigued, negative thoughts etc... it’s a survival mechanism to keep us from doing stupid shit.... except now... we don’t get the satisfaction of hunting and foraging for our food... getting a paycheck and going to the super market is too easy... we don’t get the rush of fighting and beating a predator, or even running from one (this is why people love thrill rides and crave adventure) We’re reactive creatures, most of us aren’t proactive, we won’t put ourselves into these situations, but we’ll feel amazing if they’re forced upon us, we’ll be sharper and more focused then ever... We simply have it to easy, and we’re designed not too So now instead of unknown excitement our subconscious opts for quick easy to obtain dopamine hits, social media, drugs, booze, sex, video games, movies, etc... they’re easier to get that actually doing something fulfilling... this would be well and good if we weren’t consciously aware of it... it would be basic instinct... our problem is consciously we crave the unknown, we long for excitement and experience, we’re capable of questioning our very existence and over rising our natural instinct.... but most people don’t, they cave to the initial impulses and then consciously feel shitty about doing so We’re built to live day to day in the wild, where we’re not sure what’s next, no idea when our next meal is coming, no idea if a storm is in the horizon, no idea if there’s a predator around the next bend... uncertainty is exciting, and starvation is a hell of a motivator.... we have no use for these systems in our current society, and we haven’t adapted to the new way and we won’t for very long time... we’re not built for so much convenience and safety... yes it ensures that we live longer, but live longer for what? To be bored and unfulfilled? Play some more video games? Have some more sex? Do the same exact things we continue to have to force ourselves to do because there’s no natural motivation to actually do them? We’re not motivated by anything but fear today... fear of losing our job, or losing our house, or missing a bill... these aren’t natural fears, we create them... fear in the wild is thrust onto us and we have to react or die... there’s no time for doubt or worry when your life’s on the line This is why apocalypse Themes are so popular... most people consciously crave an uncertain, unsafe life... an exciting never know what’s gonna happen next existence... but most of us are stuck in a ground hugs day scenario where it’s the same day over and never again... and what’s the point of living that day? We already know how it ends

I think sentience is maybe wrong word. But it boils down to the goal of the program doesn’t it? If the objective is “the betterment of society” who knows how an AI would go about getting this outcome. If the program “thought” I am the best hope for this objective, therefore if I am terminated I cannot complete the goal, I must ensure my survival! Or what data it perceives as important to “a better society”

I think its precisely what you said - I think over the last decade there has been a realisation that there is no easy route to general AI. Ultimately the elites will need AI and robots in order to keep themselves in power and living comfortably after they murder most of us. There are some very good "specialised" AI tools and there are plenty of robots but for many things people are still better. There are all sorts of operations on the car production line people are better for. Elon Musk found that out when he opened the "giga factory".
Whatever consciousness is - it does seem that its not necessarily "computational" and we don't really know as much about it as we think we do. So how are they going to make conscious machines?
Seems to me the elites want to change tactics and turn humans into the robots by putting chips in our brains so we can be hooked up to Amazons or Facebooks servers and then controlled like robots. This fuckin infuriates me. This fuckin bitch, ordered the live birth, despite complications that would deem a CSection necessary, she ordered the patient to push despite the pain and protests from the patient to stop because something felt wrong. And then it turned out the patient was only four centimeters dialated, and the doctor didn’t even have the fuckin balls to tell her what happened. She called it stillborn and left the room. And THEN she denies contributing to the death.
Then that panel found that her actions “were negligent and fell below the standards ordinarily to be expected”. Because it was likely the baby had passed his head became stuck and they couldn’t free it, the subsequent decapitation didn’t amount to serious misconduct.
