Hi Ladies!
Last year I [F,27] got out of a 8 year long relationship. He was my first everything (love, kiss, sex,...) but in the end we were more friends than lovers and he cheated on me. So I started to work on myself, got to know myself and matured a lot (I think). I thought about what I wanted in a relationship and in my life and started looking for something new.
Actually... I planned to stay single for another few months and just wanted to date a little bit to gain some experience (no sex, just meeting guys and such). But after a few dates I met a guy [M, 29] who was different... In a lot of ways he seems to be "perfect" for me and he completes me in a way my ex never could. He is way more masculine, in a quiet, confident way and his optimism is perfect for my "overthinking" head. He's good with money, is popular in his town (my sister works there and talked asked some people about him), has a lot of interests beside a relationship and seems to be a really good guy. He's been single for the last two years because he wanted something "real" after a few failed relationships. He dated several women but it never "clicked". He fell for me quite fast and hard and I tried to stay one step behind him because of my past. I didn't want to rush into a relationship and then realize that I'm not ready for one. I didn't want to hurt him.
Now, the only thing that's been bugging me is that he's relatively quiet. Not in a boring way that he has nothing to say, but he just likes listening more that talking (he told me that) and he's not mindlessly chattering all day long. I don't mind right now, it's just something I'm not used to AT ALL, since my ex was talking all the time (maybe too much). When he's telling me about something he can talk for 30 minutes straight, so it's not that he quiet all the time. We have good discussions and laugh a lot together. He also shares his feelings with me, tells me how great I am and that I'm the best thing that's happend to him in 10 years.
I really like this guy and want to build something with him. But I tend to overthink things and want to learn to become more comfortable with his silence. Do you have any experience with quiet men? How can I become more relaxed during this periods? Also I think one of my own problems is that I'm not really comforable with periods of silence. This hasn't something to do with him. It’s something that’s also bugging me with co-workers, friends, family and such.
