I love country music, but there are times it is not good for me because it distorts my reality of how most men think. I enjoy the romance and the drama of a man falling love in love with a woman at first sight, his infatuation with her, his undying commitment to her, his proclamation of her beauty and her charms, and his heart break when she leaves him. And the irony is I have a husband who was infatuated with me in the beginning, as I was with him, and a man who does have an undying commitment to me and our children. But the proclamation of my beauty and charms has never been a reality. In fact praise in any aspect is pretty much a rarity. As a natural born romantic it has been hard at times to be married to a man who has difficulty showing affection outside of our bed. He was brought up this way and I fully recognize it. I know he loves me. He has given me a secure and faithful marriage. He has provided for me and our children. He wants the best for me and I want to make him happy. Why is it so important for me to have words of affirmation from him? Is this normal or the effects of too much country music?
