This is something I still struggle with so I'm mostly just lecturing myself here. I have the worst habit of falling in love with potential🤢
He's not HV if he hasn't figured basic shit out and needs a woman to motivate him to better himself and his life. A man who tells you he will, for example, quit porn/drinking/smoking or start cleaning his living space etc for you is LV at best.
Wishing and hoping that he will be/do better and stay that way, or feeling flattered that he would promise to change things to have and keep you... NO. You are not compatible. Most likely you will not be the person to save him from himself. That motivation is weak and will not last. Pickmes will stoop to the level of unmotivated, insecure men and try to boost their confidence by coddling them. "Porn is good and healthy! I don't mind doing all the cleaning and cooking! I like being his rock! It's actually funny and quirky what a clueless slob he is and how I have to parent him!" No real change happens, it's all just talk and eventually they go back to how they were. Many men just keep pushing to see how much shit women can take until they break. Women who try to help them to be better at their own expence (and women feeling like they failed him, they failed to help him change... wtf). Like the meme posted here recently: you spend time with a dirty, ugly troll and you become one yourself. Bad habits and traits will rub on you too. It's better to be alone than date a guy who ~might~ change and risk being affected by his low value lifestyle.
If a person is HV, they have already figured things out and will act accordingly. Just for themselves and not because they want to get laid. The real you, your true nature is what you do and how you behave when no one's watching. Living in filth unless someone is coming over? Eating junk food because there's no mommy to cook for you? Jerking off to porn showing women being abused and hurt but believing and telling people you're a "nice" guy? Playing games for hours when there are real things that need to be taken care of and real, productive things to do? No, no one's perfect. There are times when we don't have time, energy, strength. We have our vices and flaws we work on. With basic shit I mean leading a mostly healthy, fulfilling life, being independent and able to take care of yourself and treating yourself and other people with respect and kindness, even when you are single and even when you won't gain anything from acting kind and considerate towards other people. Also being a whole person all on your own and not needing a partner to make you happy.
Decide what you value, the kind of life you want, and never settle. Either they are on your level or not, don't wait for them. If they see the light, they will get there on their own and lead a better life which will benefit them and all people around them too.
