This is why you don't tell anyone, certainly not women when you have money.

This, if he didn't tell her then someone else is telling others about his finances.
This is one of many reasons why you don't use social media.

And if it was only 200k I wouldn't be flaunting it. Maybe pay off my house but not even my friends would know.

Exactly, that's life changing money but not actually a lot of money in the grand scheme of things.
Especially after the government takes their cut, followed by creditors.

Stealth wealth is the only way to go. The real goal of wealth is not to have status symbols, but to have financial freedom. The feeling of driving a fancy car is nice while your driving, but is nothing compared to how you feel 24/7 knowing you can grab your passport and go anywhere you want for as long as you want. After covid of course

Exactly what I wanna do. Also, people with dogs/cats/houses are stuck and can't just move quickly. Sh*ts going down soon, you got to be able to move quick.

It boggles my mind how few people actually understand this.
People always want the latest iPhone, a new car, fancy dinners. The bank love these people.

Yea, banks hate me, I'm a freeloader. I have only no fee cards, pay my balance every month, and bank the rewards . I think most folks have never analyzed the opportunity cost of a potential purchase

Exactly, most people don't understand opportunity cost, and how compounding interest work.
I guess it's a choice between ''hedonism vs discipline'' and how you balance those 2 accordingly. Most people have 0 discipline and want everything now.

I think I knew what delayed gratification was at 10 yrs old. Took longer to master it

When it's not tingles, it's money they want.

I know more millionaires than I care for. But if you judged them by their clothes and cars you would never know. They hide their wealth well.

Why the hey did he tell anyone? I cashed in a bunch of investments (tripled my initial investment) and didn’t tell anyone until I spent it ( new Indian Scout, new fence and reinvested).

who says he did? His whole family probably knew about it and anyone there could have posted it or talked.

That's nothing, my mother had a second marriage after my father. It lasted about two years. That was thirty years ago, and she just casually dropped to me how she's bitter about not getting any of that man's pension.
