i hear you. try to max out your 401k. This will give you confidence and will serve as a base of wealth. Then try to churn bank promotion deals to get some passive income coming in. I do at least 2k per year which helps pay for all my dates for the year and then some. That's about 10 hours of work for 2k. you have time for it. buy gold and silver but not all at once. do it every month or quarter so that you dollar cost average. dollar cost average your 401k too. once you have a nest egg then you can start thinking about a side hustle. im an engineer in my 9 to 5. my side hustle is i have a uscg captain license and i am the captain of one of those booze cruise boats. its cash tips and decent money and i love getting out on the water. the end goal is that next year ill have enough to buy a boat of my own which i plan to live aboard and also do charters. the marina is close to my office (5 minutes) so I am lucky. escaping the rat race is not easy and doesn't happen overnight unless you have a large inheritance. in 10 years i will FIRE and not need my 9 to 5. so that's my plan.

Buy items from China from their marketplaces. Import it. Sell it for a profit in your home country. Create a website or sell on Amazon/eBay. It's fairly simple if you're willing to put in the work.
