I agree that the US is good for making money and nothing else. I've seriously entertained they possibility of moving to another country- however, moving to a land where you do not speak the language and do not know anyone is a reset of tremendous proportions, and carries with it plenty of its own problems. Plus, feminism is spreading around the world at an accelerating rate, the world is becoming more globalized and Americanized by the day, there are increasingly fewer means of escape. An American man in SEA may have been 'exotic' 30 or 40 years ago, now it's hardly even worth taking notice of. Stardusk recently made a video on the limitations of "Geo-Maxxing."

If it's a low COL you're after, you don't need to go abroad for that-there are numerous small towns and cities in flyover America that offer that. I hear Dayton OH and Wichita KS are very affordable.

Cost of living in those cheaper countries really caught up with US over the last 20 years

You could have went almost anywhere 20 years ago and had food+accomodations at like 1/5 the average American price

Now major Thai cities are almost as expensive as US. Lots of SEA is unsafe. You really have to look to obscure eastern EU countries to have a chance at your dollars going further, and those people dont speak a word of English

The whole idea is great, but unfortunately it isnt early 2000s. You might as well just pick a random small city in midwest and get the same thing, but better.

Lodge your ass in some random place an hour or two from major American city for $700/month and its going to cost the same as a decent place in Vietnam. Except you will be able to have a car and amenities without getting gouged.

Come to India. Land of Anarchy. I make roughly $2k per month and live like a king. This of course was struggling over a period of 20 years but worth it. Electricity is $40 if you have the AC on the entire day.. Rent various from $30 to $40 to $500 and above for ultra premium locations. Water is negligible at 2 or 3 dollars. Food and groceries etc.. Really cheap. Example One kilo of potatoes cost 25 cents. A whole chicken maybe 2 or 3 dollars. Cigarettes cost $5 a pack of 20 (yes they're expensive) I have a 2.5L diesel Ford truck which I bought for $4k.. Second hand.. No work needed and done only 60k Kms. I have a dog. This is a middle tier city. Costs could be more expensive in swankier places obviously or cheaper in the villages. What else you need to know..

Bad idea. You're assuming you'll earn American money in a third world country, you won't. Most of those places pay $500 average a month. Cost of living's cheap, sure, but so are wages.

And if you do keep earning in USD rather than whatever piss-poor currency your host country has, congratulations, you're now in the top tax bracket. So pay up, bozo.

Cost of living there is low because they get paid very little. Go there without money and try to make a living working there just like the locals do and then come back and tell us how it went.
