The Second Effort is a term coined by Vince Lombardi, the Hall of Fame head coach of the Green Bay Packers during the 1960s. Vince Lombardi is the only NFL coach in history that has led a team to three straight and five total NFL Championships within seven years. As you can see, this guy knows a bit or two about success.

His key philosophy to success not only in sport, but in life in general was this idea of "The Second Effort". It is quite a simple concept to understand that I believe has a major impact on our lives.

His point was that every person makes the first effort, all you need to do is show up. He knew the difference between the good players and the exceptional players was that the exceptional players always make a second effort, or even third effort, despite their first failure or setback until they achieved their goal. The exceptional players were mentally tough.

He touted that "mental toughness is the essential key to success" and "confidence is contagious, and so is the lack of it".

I encourage you all to watch his training video on YouTube below.

I see so many people give up after their first no. It's a sad thing to watch. People do not realise that the most successful people in the world, whether it be with women, jobs or personal goals have had many failures and put in the second effort to get where they wanted.

Every time you face failure think in your mind about The Second Effort and use this simple phrase to make massive changes in your life.
