I met up with some friends via zoom last night and a lot of them noticed a change within me. At the beginning of 2019, so much of my life was changing. I was transferring schools, got my first boyfriend, and having an identity crisis. By the spring of 2020, I was so stressed out that I became depressed because nothing in my life was turning out right. I had just broken up with said bf, failed a state issued test and I didn’t know who I was becoming. In short I hated the person I was becoming. My relationship with my parents was the rockiest it’s ever been.
By the fall of 2020 I was working myself up and sometimes I’d cry as I did it since it was hard. I wanted better things in my life. I knew that I was getting stronger and creating boundaries for myself. I had first stumbled onto FDS in December 2020. In short, I was trying to rationalize what had happened in that relationship and felt guilty for breaking up the relationship. People told me I needed closure and that I could always go back to him. None of these answers felt right to me. Upon scrolling through FDS, I found myself agreeing to most things that was said, and realized that this was my sanctuary for healing.
By the spring of 2021 , I got into grad school. That was my first sign that I was doing something right. Another sign was that I had graduated from my program in one piece since I thought that I would have failed. Just about 3 weeks ago I took the state exams again and passed with flying colours. Yesterday, I just got certified in my profession. Now, I’m on my way to doing an additional certification while waiting for grad school to start.
I look back and reflect on my decisions and it’s clear that the break up was a good thing that I did for myself in order to get my life back. He appeared to be self-confident but had demons of his own. He took it out on me, and I let him because I loved him. I didn’t know who I was without him.
After finding FDS, my life has improved. Everyone in this community has helped me heal from this pain and made me understand the toxicity of my past relationship with him and myself. I have nothing but gratitude for this community because you’ve helped me level up in many aspects of my career, and personal life. Although, my journey of self-discovery and learning is just beginning, I’m happy again and now equipped with the wisdom of FDS.
Once again, from the bottom of my heart thank you.
❤️
