Hear me out on this one.

I was in a relationship for about a year, and it got to the point where I didn't like being with the girl but I stayed with her because I was afraid of being alone, yada yada. I finally found the balls to break up with her, and man it was freeing. Me finding the balls was mainly because of this subreddit and me realizing that I needed to be happy on my own. I started working out, filling my time with my passion which is film and photography, improving myself etc.

Now, 5 months later, I'm still working out, following my dreams and studying and working in the film industry (making music videos) etc. I am a happy person, I can finally say. But there's just one problem that I have encountered now.

You see, I started talking to this girl from my school a week ago. Went pretty well, she started expressing her upcoming feelings for me, I told her that I dig her too. So basically, she started showing interests, and because she has the same interests as me (film, photo), I like her a lot (not in the unicorn way, no oneitis).

My problem is that, my brain is battling continually whether she actually likes me or not. When she shows interest, my mood increases x10. When she, for example, replies disinterested or shows that she's not really interested, I get pretty sad(and this is mostly via text). This is a problem I need to fix as soon as possible, and I'm just tired of giving girls the power to have an effect on my daily mood. When I'm not talking to a girl I like, I am happy all day. When I am, and she's showing disinterest, it affects my self esteem I guess and I feel bad?

The solution to me right now is: lift, improve, sleep and get more women into my life.

What do you guys think? How do you guys not let a girl's interest in you affect your mood/happiness level? This sounds pretty sad to write to be honest, because I thought I was done being a beta bitch. But I like being self aware and actually fixing shit.
