Why does everyone assume that you need to give an actual answer?

If they ask you a bullshit question, give them a bullshit answer.

If I could come up with so many dumbass ideas in 2 minutes - imagine how many you can come up with if think about it creatively.

It's also an indication that they're talking to tons of guys and see you as just another option. Every app has your age plastered on the front page and yet I've been asked that question tons of times

Because they have a little click of friends they compare notes with. And having a notch that is with an older guy - that's one on their list.

They have a very limited number of conversation ideas so that one bubbles up to the top very quickly. Similarly a lot of the questions often suspected as being to test your 'provider status' are actually just conversation fillers to the average girl.

Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by stupidity.
