There's some asvab practice tests out there. Sorry I can't give advice on how to be a good test taker, I was always that guy who finished before everyone while scoring a 98+ and then didn't ever do homework.

For me it was always about my mindset. I figured I either knew it or I didn't.

So I would blast through answering the ones I knew right away and skipping the ones that required more than say 15secs of thinking, with the intent to come back to it.

In this way, I'd have like 90% of the test in the bag and there would be absolutely no pressure on the remaining questions.

What you are describing sounds a lot like test taking anxiety. It is not an uncommon thing. When you are young, every test or challenge is posed as having enormous potency in determining your life success. So the anxiety comes from thinking "if I don't ace this I will die poor, hungry, and alone" or any variation of this. So the way to deal with this anxiety is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). You probably will not have a therapist to help here, so get a book on it. The general idea is to replace that thinking of "if I screw up this, I am a loser" with:

"I am proud of myself for taking steps to pursue my dreams by taking this test".

"I may not get everything right, and that is okay, just do your best"

"I have studied and prepared for this, so there's nothing more I can do"

In addition to this, if you prepare, then you will be less anxious and feel more confident.

One more thing, which applies to job interview anxiety as well - put yourself in the anxiety causing situation where you don't care about the outcome. Interview for the job you don't want, and take the aptitude test for a job you don't want. Then you can learn it's just a test and it isn't anything to worry about. It helps you de-sensitize to the anxiety reaction.

Im from Spain, and also had to make an aptiotude test. I'd say you shouldn't worry. It is basically for thrm to know you didn't lie in your resume and that you know how to do things...

Also, if you dont pass it probably you'll have a hard time working there..... Anyway, keep calm and go for it!!!!!

I'm in Canada and never had to take a amplitude test in my life and need to know what type of job it is with specific requirements. Mostly everything in those type of tests are common sense and multiple choice easy to pass if your not inept just need to be claim, cool and collected.

Sounds like test anxiety. In a nutshell, there are two main strategies: working with your thoughts, and exposure.

WillFred mentioned some of the former -- using cognitive reframing and coping self-statements to help. You can find plenty of other ideas online. Just search "test anxiety."

The second component -- exposure -- means you have to face the fear before it really goes away. That's how it is for all anxiety. So, part of this is just having the experience and learning that you can deal with it. It might help if you could do some practice tests. I'm not sure if those are available for what you're talking about, though.

I'd also suggest a third component: don't criticize yourself for having the anxiety. It says something good about you. For instance, it probably says that you want to do well, you value doing well, succeeding at this is important to you, you want to make something of your life, you value intelligence and competence, etc. Those are good things! Your anxiety is, in part, a reflection of that. So don't work to eliminate all the anxiety. Just work to reduce it to the point where it doesn't cripple you.

I suppose it's normal at any place, heck even GRE and GMAT are aptitude tests. The best way to conquer test anxiety is to take more tests which you can do by taking mock exams. Just search for free mock aptitude tests on Google and you would get a bunch of websites.
