Maybe this is obvious to you guys but I had a realization today when my mom came over to my house. I love her to death but I can't have her over among my physical stuff for too long or tell her about my life in too much detail because she has a tendency to be extremely controlling, nosy and have a "I know what's best for him" attitude.

I think wives and girlfriends also take on this overbearing mother role eventually. Slowly and unintentionally they start to change things, control and most of all decide over all spendings. I was reading about the Chris Watts case and apparently his wife had their money on "lockdown" and often got upset over his spendings despite him being the breadwinner. She spent most of it and they were in a huge amount of debt. When he had dinner alone somewhere she got some app set-up so that she would get some message as soon as he spent money. Pretty crazy stuff that entire situation.
