So the system is now geared that even after you separate/plan to divorce, and you disrupt her access to finances, you are basically guilty of "financial abuse". Doesn't matter how she wants to rape you, just put the word "abuse" after it.

How the hell does a divorce take 3 years? That's rediculous in itself. Let alone still having all the obligations that marriage gives. Poor guy.

Medical aids are managed by Regulatory Framework, which is based on financial and ethical requirements and principles. A foundational requirement of most medical aids is that any dependent must live in the same household as the principal Beneficiary. The Beneficiary is the person who pays for the medical aid and this person is also responsible to ensure that his/her dependents utilize the medical aid according to the regulations of the medical aid. It is impossible for the Beneficiary to ensure that his/her dependents do not abuse the medical aid and ensure that they perform their responsibilities as dependents of the medical aid if the dependent does not live in the same home as the beneficiary. This problem is exacerbated when there is a breakdown of communication between Beneficiary and dependent especially when it becomes ugly like when the dependent threatens the beneficiary with a protection order or worse still institutes a PO against the beneficiary. This Pretoria man has been estranged from his wife since 2015, which is four years. I assume they became estranged soon after or before she instituted divorce proceedings. The article does not provide information on the circumstances of the marriage such as marriage duration, whether any children were born from the marriage, who the children reside with and so forth. In Marriage there exists a reciprocal duty to support one another, which is an inevitable consequence of marriage. This duty continues until the day of the divorce. It would be a crying shame if the Honourable Court ordered this man to retain his wife on his medical aid when she is not performing any support duty towards him and where she is estranged from him for an unacceptably long period of time especially if she is abusing his medical fund and not performing her responsibilities as a dependent. There is logic in him removing his wife off his medical aid and putting another woman on his medical aid if that other woman lives in the same household as him and has an amicable relationship with him and utilities his medical aid within the regulatory framework by not abusing the medical aid and by performing her responsibilities as a dependent. Signing a marriage certificate should not automatically be interpreted as a life long meal ticket to a free medical aid. With rights there comes responsibility.
