Love is a temporary feeling. It's an evolutionary trick of the mind. You can get that same feeling getting a good long term friend. If your talking about sex, than get a high class escort for that. Or if those all fail stick with relationships that only last as long as the honeymoon phase (6 to 12 months). Those love stories you read are all full of shit. No different than people's Facebook posts of how great their life is when in reality it's not. Try new hobbies and look for what gives you a purpose. You aren't always going to be happy but if you keep working at doing something you want to get some satisfaction out of it.

For myself, I found that finding purpose is more of a gradual process rather then a mind shattering epiphany. You kind of stumble in the dark, and work towards a direction thats a good general direction. You get more proficient at filtering through your neurotic thoughts, and pursuing the gold nugget your mind caughts up once in a while. You'll throw a lot of stuff at a wall and see what sticks, right now marriage is not a good path, so you go for the second best thing. That requires you to lose the attachment to it, and give other possible life paths a chance.

I never could do that, so I'm just keeping my relationships in perspective.

I don't want LTRs because... you know, red pill, so I enter relationships knowing full well they will finish. Fast.

One guy here in reddit wrote this not too long ago:

That's how I approach relationships, since I just can't quit them.

The idea is simple. Change your thinking about love.

Society says love is a feeling. And thus it is temporary.

Real love is being unselfish toward the beloved (and vice versa) but society won't tell you that and won't offer you that.

Love does not exist in modern society. Sociopaths have killed it.

It can be frustrating to want to take a certain path you feel is right but find yourself drawn or led down another because everyone else us telling you it's the right way.

You're right, Hollywood, the media in general, authors, game designers, bands, artists, everyone in media sells sex... marriage, relationships, girlfriends, the happily ever after. And it becomes very enticing to try and pursue.

But press pause on it for a second. All of these sources, sell a fantasy. A fiction. A fairy tale. They show you the most unreal outcome possible and they make a lot of money on it because the fantasy IS great. But it's not reality. People pay them money to escape reality for an hour or so during their tv show or the movie they chomp popcorn to. You'll hear it all the time, "the suspension of disbelief".

So if this is what you're seeing all the time, eventually you can start to believe that it is not a fantasy of "happily ever after", but that it's something to aspire to.

But it's a falsehood. And divorce stats, and the long line of financially and emotionally broken men that chasing that fantasy leaves in its wake is self-evident.

So, if your desire is to walk your own path independant of wanting relationships, you have to start changing the fuel source mentally. You have to start watching and listening to things that dont promote that. Change what you are truly focused on. Something YOU want to do.

Remember that scene in Fight Club where they are in the car and Tyler asks the two members of project mayhem "what is one thing you wish you could do before you die?" Both of them give their answers immediately and with conviction. And both answers were different. But it was something THEY wanted to do that they had not been able to do (or, presumably, they had been prevented from doing by consumerist society) their entire lives.

That's what you have to do. Focus on one big thing you really want for YOURSELF. Something to create. Maybe its paint portraits, or build a house, or become a chef instead of a (whatever your profession is now).

MGTOW core philosophy tells you WHERE to turn your attention to: financial health. Physical well being, personal happiness, education for the mind. ...

It's up to you to choose the media content that will shift your focus from wanting women and relationships, to accomplishing your goals.

Sorry if that was a little rambling and all over the place. But I hope it helped.

TLDR: shift your attentions from media that lead you down a path you dont want to take, and start consuming content that leads you where you want to be. Make your own individual choices, and make yourself your own best focus.
