Speed up contested divorce?

Aim for trial as quickly as you can. Go to the courthouse yourself on divorce court days and watch attorneys in action - get a litigator for an attorney and be ready/willing to walk within an hour in mediation once you know for sure that your ex isn't going to be reasonable. It seems counter-intuitive but aiming for trial ASAP is the cheapest way to divorce if there's any question it will be contested. The walk up the courthouse steps has an amazing way of making a STBX much more reasonable. DO NOT MOVE OUT because then she's got the kids, your money, and no you so she has no incentive to settle. Have a digital audio recorder running secretly on your person at all times in the marital home to avoid the all-too-common false domestic violence accusation and subsequent "I WIN" button in divorce.

And please don't tell me you want to speed this up so that you can marry up your cupcake. Cause if so go fuck yourself and I hope your STBX wins.

She has actually been abusive towards me in the past but of course, I didn't tell anybody.

If you want a speedy divorce, then you'll have to check out what state you're in.

If it is contested, then decide, "what are your must haves". Make a list. Informally show them to your STBXW. She'll either say, "I can do this" or she'll say "no way" or she'll say "how about this instead." If mediation is going to be a 100% no-go, then don't even bother. Unless you're in AZ for "Divorce with children" and then free mediation is provided by the state and required.

Tell your lawyer, "Go straight for trial. Mediation will go nowhere." Get a trial date ASAP.
