Basic situation - I am the breadwinner, she is a SAHM. Kids are soon to be 16 & 13. Our NW is about $2.8MM and I earn about $250K. We live in PA, married 18 years.

Things are okay, but drift. If I filed now I would pay child support and alimony for a while. I'd like to hang it up at work in the next couple of years. If we file while I am working I am sure it would be next to impossible to retire and say we should split assets. But what if I am already retired. Could I get alimony imputed based on my old salary? What if I was retired two years? What if I went into coast mode and took a low paying job?

I am 49 and she is 47 if that matters. We had the chat about her working in the recent past and it was a no-go, she would have to recertify (she used to make about $50K/yr 15 years ago) and with early retirement on the horizon (been planning since my 20s) she didn't want to train herself for something else (ugly conversations - not worth it).

I am pretty sure I can survive on half my assets. But each time I run the numbers and have to pay her CS/Alimony its like she gets 2/3 or 3/4. Probably cheaper to keep her.

My work is stressful and I am pretty burnt out.
