Feel bad posting here because I am not married to my sons mother. I’m am 25 she is 24 and I just have this pit in my stomach concerning the future. I feel like a separation needs to happen sooner than later but don’t know if that is the best thing for our son.

To set the stage, we have a relatively vanilla relationship. Never really fight, she loves our son, and does the best job she can taking care of our little man during the day. She cooks she cleans and she even shops for me. We are both currently getting our masters and I work full time teaching/door dashing for extra cash. What I don’t know if I can get passed is her almost ice cold nature/attitude towards sex or any form of physical affection. She had a pretty good bout with post partum depression, but I don’t know what would still be making her completely uninterested( our son is 1 and 1/2 now and we have had sex twice since she got pregnant) On top of that if something happens that upsets her during the day, whether that be me or an event out of my control, she completely shuts down and will not even communicate.

We have had numerous what I perceived to be breakthrough conversations concerning how bad it’s like a gutt punch to me when she won’t even kiss me for weeks at a time. I don’t know what to do at this point, but I feel like it will be the most selfish act( concerning my son) I have ever committed if I do not stay in the relationship. Am I being unrealistic? Has anyone else gone through this? I’m too the point I even talked to HER own mother about it and the response was, “ that’s how I was with her dad and I wish I wouldn’t have because it’s part of the reason we divorced, but to not expect it to ever change because that sort of relationship is what she was raised around. “
