You’ll probably get served tomorrow-ish would be my guess. Don’t stress on that. You’ll want a lawyer ASAP. It might take some shopping around. The cost will be directly connected to how contentious it is, and how vindictive she is. It can range from $5k to $100k In terms of hourly rate maybe expect $250/hr... $350 isn’t unheard of either. There is no way to answer your questions because everything is so circumstantial. Even selecting a lawyer depends on whether it is going to be amicable or not. My advice on lawyer selection is make sure they have a strategy that you find appropriate and make sure they have experience/success in your county with the Judge you’ll be dealing with.

Unfortunately, my original lawyer retired. Had to use McDonald Tinker a year ago to deal with my ex, they were ok. But in any case lawyer up. Don't pay attention to stxw, set emotions aside, persue your interests, reach out to old friends, create your support circle, go to church or fishing with a buddy. Stay positive, everything works out in the end.

This is what I did after I fired 3 of my Crappy lawyers. I sat in the courthouse rooms and watched/listened. At the end of the day I had a talk with her. She heard me out and didn't want to get into my mess. I asked her then if she could help me send paperwork and set up court dates.

I had scheduled 3 court dates to end it. I won all 3 with her help.

Trust me, watch, feel them out. See if they do thier job. That's who you want.

Depending what has to be done.... $5,000.00 to $10,000.00 retainer.
