I told my wife of ~3yrs (I know not long marriage - 9 yr relationship though) and I am fairly young (early 30's) that I wanted a divorce in late Feb. I moved out and have been crashing by my parents since then. Was supposed to move into a new place back in April back to where we both lived together and both work. Then, ya know, pandemic.
I am assuming I am not the only one in this situation but was hoping to get some recs on how to build myself up and start transitioning into this new chapter of my life while I am stuck isolated due to pandemic. It wasn't wise for me to move to a new sublet at this time due to pandemic so I am now stuck with my parents for the foreseeable future. I am working remotely but am having a very very difficult time with everything. If there wasn't a pandemic going on I know I would be doing significantly better but I am stuck unmotivated and no form of healthy stress relief.
If there wasn't a pandemic, I would (a) not be living w/ my parents in my early 30's and have a sense of independence and ability to create and build this next chapter of my life (b) be able to go out with supportive friends and (c) do healthy things to destress like go to gym or guitar shop and play expensive guitars I can't afford and d) try new things.
At the beginning of this, the outlook was good and I was viewing it as not only leaving an unhealthy relationship (which it still is) but a rebirth in a sense as I can finally live life for myself, focus on me, and take care of me w/o having to cater to someone else's insatiable demands all while being emotionally abused (which it also still is, but hard to see that now under current world conditions). The situation w/ the pandemic turned bad so fast that I have to self isolate as I am in the high-risk category and I am stuck at home w/ my parents who are not being sensitive to my vulnerable state and honestly making the situation 1000x worse than it already is.
How are you all dealing and coping? I initiated the divorce right before this pandemic was a thing and now I am stuck depressed with little and no hope for the future as I don't know how long I will be here with my parents or when life/or even if life will ever go back to normal (I am sure it will at some point, assuming I survive). Aside from having no money in savings due to losing the deposit on sublet and having to pay rent on old apt for not quite yet ex and legal fees etc. which honestly I am not so concerned with cuz luckily have a job where we are all working remotely and it is secure (I think/hope).
What can I do to start gaining strength while focusing on me and start living the next chapter of my life? Everyone's lives are on hold but the standard shittiness associated w/ divorce is compounded infinitely by this pandemic and I am becoming increasingly depressed as each day goes by.
